Thanks vey much for your help Stever. I will check with my urologist and request a prescription. My pharmacy in Calgary also carries the phenazopyridine drug and will compound for me.

Thanks MarySue. I appreciate your comments. I did not know AHS allowed patient to get a second opinion. Depending on results of the path report it may be a consideration.

Hi MarySue- I had my first cystoscopy in mid February and my TURBT is scheduled April 3. Slowly making progress through the system. Then the wait for the path report. 3 confirmed lesions and 2 areas with swelling. I am not sure what to think. The number of lesions is of concern, one being almost 3 mm. Hoping for the best.

I had my cystoscopy yesterday and it went fine.  I feel great this morning. No blood in urine or burning at all. For all the people out there nervous about their cysto my experience was ok. It was not at all as bad as I was expecting. Urologist did not do a biopsy but confirmed I will need a TURBT procedure to remove tumours which will then go to pathology. 4-6 week wait for TURBT…

Finally, after my first incident of gross hematuria in late December23, I am scheduled for 2 pelvic ultrasounds tomorrow with a cystoscopy early next week. After the hematuria incident my excellent family doctor suggested an ultrasound which noted a minimum of 3 suspicious polypoid lesions in my bladder. Waiting so long was difficult but now hoping to get some answers with treatment, as needed.

Thanks MarySue you have provided a lot of clarity on what is likely going to happen. Seems like I have a bit of a wait before I will get a definitive diagnosis and then if cancerous surgery followed by treatment. I am sure I will have other questions in the future and I will post. Thanks again.

Thanks Derek. I am glad to hear that you are cancer free. I appreciate you sharing your experience. I will follow up on the Alberta Peer Support and see if a urine test for cancer will be done.
