SueGParticipant
You have a good urologist and until you and he see the results of the CT and the pathology, I know it’s a hard thing to wait because we tend to think the worst. The worst however, may not be as bad as it seems to you right now. That is the hope.
I had 9 TURBTS before having the RC (radical cystectomy) in May. Prior to that, I was a complete mess of emotions and it rendered me dysfunctional a lot of the time. If that is what it comes to for you, it’s another step in eliminating cancer. Please remember that most of all.
After the RC it took a few weeks for me to suddenly realize that I can now say I’m cancer free. That is what makes me smile and accept my new normal. You said earlier that you need to move to a stage of acceptance, hope and re-adjustment and you will. Take baby steps until you know the path you’ll be on. (with a cath in, it’s not like you can take leaps just yet)
Right now, there’s no more tumor. We’re glad for that.
Having support is very important. We all empathize with your situation. Don’t ever worry about repeating yourself or expressing yourself here. It helps to talk about it.
We’re glad you’re here and sharing.SueGParticipantHi DDep,
I’m glad the TURBT is done and tumor is gone. Now for the next few steps to see what the plan will be. As said, it’s necessary and routine to use CT scans, so hang in there. Drink lots of water and stay high fibre as you heal. We’ll wait with you to hear the results and wish for the best. Sending good thoughts.
SueSueGParticipantCongrats Eddie! Yearly – that’s great too!
SueSueGParticipantHi Ken and DDep,
There’s not much to add here that hasn’t already been said. I’m glad you are here because this forum got me through those worrisome times in the beginning. 9 years ago I was having incontinence problems and never had blood in the urine. It took a while, but found that it was a tumour and my journey with BC began. TURBTs were never difficult for me. Slow and easy afterward, again, as said by Marysue. I had one TURBT at Grey Nuns in Edmonton and they send you home the same day with the catheter, but showed me how to remove it the next day. I was nervous, but it was actually very easy. Red Deer kept me overnight and removed the catheter before discharge.
To calm my nerves I read and read to learn more about BC. Some of the material made it worse (we can’t help but think the worst) and then I found Bladder Cancer Canada.. phew! With others sharing their experience and knowledge you’ll smile and feel more at ease. It’s so nice to be able to ask questions and get responses from experienced friends. A little getaway prior to surgery is helpful too. My favourite was always Vegas baby! ( lol )All the best with your upcoming TURBTs.
Ed, good luck tomorrow – will watch to see the ‘all clear’
Sue
SueGParticipantThat’s great news Ki

SueGParticipantHi John and welcome to the site. Following your first TURBT, I hope the follow up is positive for you.
You’ll benefit from sharing and talking with everyone here, since we’ve all been there in one way or another.
I had the RC 4 weeks ago and recovering slowly. The care and support has been very much appreciated.May 18, 2015 at 7:59 am in reply to: Calendar for May 2015 – who is up for surgeries, treatments and tests? #18981SueGParticipantThanks everyone. marysue is right, each is unique and I consider the varied experiences to be a full picture we can draw from on our own journey with BC.
Sorry to hear of so many recurrences Gord. Wish you (and everyone) the best!

May 25th and we’re ready. All the best to everyone having things this month. See you on the other side, in my new normal.
SueGParticipantHi Northerner, welcome to the site. How did the renal duritic ct scan go? or have you received the results yet?
My RC is the 25th of this month and I’m thankfully, thinking past it now. Although, I might just stay in the moment
since I’ve been getting caught up and am reading of complications.
On the matter of hospital stay time, I’ve been told 7 – 10 day minimum and only once you’re ready.
I hope all goes well with your kidneys.
Please keep us postedSue
SueGParticipantThanks Jeanne. This keeps the smile on and we all know, that’s a good thing!
