Been a while since I’ve updated my progress. Have had no issues since the second procedure. Underwent a CT scan Sept 28 and all appears fine, no spreading of the cells.  First BCG treatment is this week, Oct 5.

    Path report is in.

Final Diagnosis: “Follicular cystitis, negative for neoplasia”.  Pretty sure that’s good!

Comment: “Immunohistochemical studies for CK20 and P53 do not identify carcinoma in situ”.  Not sure about this, whether it’s good or just not definitive!

Follow up with Doc is September 6.

Surgery went well, took  about 10 minutes! Another catheter for 3 or 4 days. Treatment, once started will be 6, once a week BCG injections.

Hey Cher-L. Good to see you finally received your report and the news is as good as it can be under the circumstances. Your report is very similar to mine. On to the next steps and the waiting game (although I can’t complain about wait times too much here). My doc told me in his own words, ” the health system here (Alberta) is f*d up”.  It seems everything happens in monthly increments for me!

Following up with my doctor appointment yesterday. He confirmed Stage 1, high grade cancer. He was optimistic about the future and said the pathology report was encouraging.

Next step will be another surgical procedure to “scrape” a larger area of the bladder where the tumors were located. Less of an invasive procedure than a TURBT he says.  Hopefully this can be scheduled within the next month. After that, it will be BCG treatments.

Just a quick update on my recovery.  Still have not received the pathology report, hopefully tomorrow afternoon! Recovery is going well, feel great, like I can do almost anything. Doc says after this long weekend I can step up activity but to monitor my pace. Any sign of blood, back it off. I seem to have stopped passing very faint blood droplets a few days ago, which has only ever been one or two at a time and not constantly. A couple of clots passed as well. Hopefully I get my results tomorrow.

Good to read all was well with the surgery Cheryl!

Sounds like they pretty much told you the same things I was told, must be a standard script they all follow.

Had my catheter taken out this morning. That was 4 days, 3 nights.  No issues with it coming out. No pain. No real discomfort peeing afterwards and the color is good.  It is such a good feeling to get rid of it!

My follow up with the doc is on June 29th.

    Stay well.

Another question…What is the timeframe for your first follow-up visit with the surgeon? 1 day? 3 days? I’m thinking if you leave the hospital with a catheter it would be fairly quick.
