ParticipantWell, the nerve specialist was a complete waist of time! She was extremely rude, insensitive and patronizing. She said I don’t have nerve damage, even though the bottom 1/4 of my left leg is icy cold all of the time.
I’ve had nearly all of my 6 mth follow up tests.
Uro appeared pleased, with Cysto, haven’t had official post appointment. Definite candidate for artificial sphincter surgery, now waiting to see surgeon in London.
Chest x-Ray clear!
Oncologist is concerned about a spot on Lt pubic bone, ordered and completed bone scan & more blood work yesterday.
My family doctor called me Wednesday evening to tell me that CT Radiologist report showed an increase in the size of a (previously detected…news to me), Lytic Lesion. This explains sharp and burning pain on that location.
Still waiting for MRI to be scheduled.
I’ve read up on this lesion; hopefully there is only one, because it can be treated with radiation.
…..and the wait begins….September 12, 2015 at 9:24 am in reply to: Calendar for October- Who is up for tests, surgeries, treatments etc.? #19664Rhonda-Lee
ParticipantGreat news Lorraine ! I agree with Jack, celebrate every positive result, big or small.

ParticipantHi Lynda, I hope everything went well. Post diagnosis, seeing blood in any amount can be scary. Glad that the ER docs and your URO are staying on top of it.
Best wishes, Rhonda-Lee

ParticipantWelcome Jim! The BCC forum family is amazing. Well said Gord, I too have a neo bladder, March 31 this year. It is different for women, I have to say I’m a bit jealous of the fact that when men have the RC, they don’t have permanent incontinence. That is the only part of my new normal that I’m not happy about.
That being said, I am SO HAPPY to be CANCER FREE!Don’t forget everyone, on September 27th there is a national charity walk for Bladder Cancer Canada in your city.
So get out there and spread the word……
“If you see RED, see your doctor”P.S Love the T-shirt idea! I think mine will say, “Made in Canada 1968, missing parts, still in good working order”

ParticipantHi Cheryl, thank you for sharing your experience. The pain is debilitating! If by the end of this week I find no reprieve from the Chiropractor, I will go back to physio. After much research and speaking to an Osteopathic therapist, I feel that this may be the route to take, for both my immediate need as well as after my next surgery. There are a few that actually work with people post-operatively to prevent this type of injury.
Good news also, I have received a cancellation appointment with a nerve specialist for this week. I would really like to get pain management so I can sleep for more than a few hours at a time.
I would really like to enjoy my trailer in Tobermory before the end of summer……September 1, 2015 at 10:52 am in reply to: Calendar for September 2015 – Who is up for surgeries, treatments, tests etc.? #19466Rhonda-Lee
ParticipantHello All!
As much as I (usually) enjoy my birthday (Aug 30th), it is always a reminder that the summer is nearly over. September 1st tomorrow….what?! When did that happen?
It’s been quite some time that I’ve posted here. First, an unfortunate welcome to anyone new our BCC forum family!
This summer has been both good and not so good health wise for me. It started out great, until the middle of July. While on vacation, I developed a bulging disc, a.k.a a pinched sciatica. It has become debilitating; since then I have tried physiotherapy, acupuncture and now a chiropractor, nearly every day. My family doctor says this injury has been a result of my RC surgery back in March. Being in one position for 8 hours then bedridden for 3 weeks post surgery. For my next surgery I will take precautions pre and post surgery with an Osteopath.
This week and next I will be having all of my 6 month tests. Tomorrow I’m having a Cystoscopy as well as Urodynamics, the latter is predetermination test to see a specialist in London for an artificial sphincter implant. A CT on Thursday; then next week a full day at the Grand River Cancer Center for chest x-ray, blood work then to see my oncologist. Really hoping for good results.Well that is my update. Sending positive energy to anyone going through testing and/or procedures.
Peace, Love & Grooviness to all

ParticipantHi everyone,it’s been a while since I posted. It’s been 2 moths and 10 days since my RC/Neo surgery and I feel great!
So far this month I’ve had an ultrasound to rule out an incisional hernia, still waiting for results. I saw my oncologist yesterday and got the good news that the CT was all clear! What a relief!
I still have a chest x-Ray to get in 2 weeks. I’m confident that it too will be clear.
I almost forgot, I had a cysto, that was also clear AND no more Nephrostomy tube!!I’m going for a physio consult tomorrow for pelvic floor rehabilitation. God I hope it works! The Neo bladder is draining great….all of the time! So done with the incontinence already!!!!
Don’t get me wrong, I am extremely thankful that I was given a new “bladder” and had the cancerous one removed and I’m alive and for now am cancer free.
Being completely honest however, Having to wear a diaper 24/7 is depressing.
So frustrated by the fact that although I’m completely pain free and feeling healthy, it’s been a strain on my relationship. Intimacy, out the window….Adult diapers are sexy…said no one EVER!

ParticipantHi Eric, as Mary Sue would say, “welcome to the site that nobody wants to belong to”. Forgive me Mary Sue if I’ve misquoted you.
Both Jack and Mary Sue are very good resources if you need BC information, They have both helped me immensely with my own journey.
Best of luck with your wonderful news.Sincerely,

ParticipantCongratulations Lynda for your Cancer Free!

ParticipantMillize, I so love that you did that! I have never been a shy person, my family and friends say that I could make friends with a forest! I have never met a stranger.
Kiowa, I too have a new found appreciation for EVERYTHING! I am a tourist in my own neighbourhood, taking in sights, sounds and smells (good & bad), that I hadn’t noticed before.
I feel re-born by this latest lesson in my life and feel that we have all graduated to becoming better versions of ourselves.I feel great admiration and love towards my BC family who has given me hope through their experiences to “Keep Peeing and Carry On”
