Great news… thanks for sharing! I too was diagnosed with TaHG just over a year ago and currently getting BCG treatments. Very thankful that I am also cancer free and feeling better each day.

Hi Michael, sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. I found out about my diagnosis 6 months ago so the emotions you describe are still fresh in my mind. It gets better after the initial shock. It may not be easy but try to stay positive.

There’s lots of great people on this forum that can offer encouragement, support, and advice. Praying for peace for you and that your TURBT goes well!

Hi Rosie, I just completed my first round of BCG consisting of 6 weekly treatments so the experience is very fresh in my mind. Happy to share my experience with a caveat that everyone may have their different individual response to BCG.

The first 4 treatments were a breeze to the point that I was wondering if the BCG was working at all. I started to experience bladder cramps after receiving treatments 5 and 6. For the first week after my last treatment the cramps were occurring pretty much hourly which meant frequent visits to the washroom. I was pretty tired during this phase as I could not get a good nights sleep and was only able to nap in between. I am now entering the second week post BCG and the cramping is less frequent (every 2 hours) and less intense.

As for your concerns about sharing the washroom, the brochure I received from my Urologist indicated strict cleaning procedures using chlorine to sanitize the toilet for the first 6 hours after receiving BCG.

Praying you receive peace and comfort as you receive your treatments!

    Blessings,
    Peter

Thanks Marysue. So I took your advice and visited my family doctor and the lab results came back indicating I do not have a bladder infection.

While I was there I asked him abut Mirabegron and he highly recommended I take the prescription as it would help with the bladder camps. I have been taking The prescription now for 3 days and things are improving. I can’t definitively say it is because of the Mirabegron or just healing on its own. There have been no noticeable side effects so far other than a dry mouth which actually helps me to remember to drink more fluids.

Thanks Jack and Marysue for your advice. I should clarify I had 6 individual treatments of BCG In this round. I did have bleeding and mild burning for a couple days after my last BCG but it is mostly gone now except for the cramps and the frequency.

I think I will hold off on the prescription and give it a few days to see if there is any gradual improvement on its own.

Hi Ron, I can totally relate to how your head is spinning as I felt the same way just a few months ago. It’s actually a good thing things are moving fast because the waiting was the hardest part for me. Feel free to private message me if you need a friend to chat with.

Hi Robin, sorry to find out that you are part of our “club”. Know that you are not alone.

I was in your exact situation 4 months ago when my cystoscopy also revealed I had two small tumours. I was in shock and can completely relate to the “daze state” that you are experiencing.

It took me a couple weeks to wrestle with my emotional roller coaster but it does get better! I am able to laugh again and have found a renewed sense of joy and hope despite the circumstances. I hope you will too.

Try to stay positive. Treat yourself to things you enjoy. As others have already mentioned, bladder cancer can be beat!

Hi Sue, it’s interesting you mentioned you have both a surgeon and oncologist. I have only one specialist (urologist). Is it just titles or should I consult an oncologist as well?
