    Hi All,

I should have checked in before today, but haven’t been on the computer for quite some time. Jack & leva….I’d love more info if you have it, and I guess I could also speak to my Uro.

I’ve already have 15 radiation treatments which knocked me on my butt with being tired all the the time (1 of the reasons I’ve been away from the computer), and am starting chemo in 2 weeks….If I can get a hold on that for the clinical trial, I think I would. Chemo scares the heck out of me.

I’m trying to keep positive and not think too much about it.

    Thanks again

I’m scheduled for a cystoscopy on Dec 2nd, and then waiting on the next round of BCG maintenance, BUT…This may be all put on hold as I’m waiting for news on treatments for a recently diagnosed case of osteosarcoma in my left thigh. Going into this new challenge with a positive attitude.

    Good luck to everyone else

Congrats Val… *high five* same for me last week, but was only my 3rd all clear, and hope for many more.

    Hi marysue,

I “had” my 3rd cysto scheduled for September 2nd – perfect for a 4 day long weekend, but it got rescheduled for September 1st. Fingers crossed for an all-clear, and celebrate with a 5 day weekend instead. Positive vibes for everyone else going through procedures.

Had my cysto 2 days ago, and got an all clear. Doc said just a small spot that was red, but thinks it’s probably from BCG and will keep an eye on it for the next cysto in September. Starting maintenance BCG this coming Friday.

Starting maintenance BCG on the 27th of May and going into June…That’s if it’s an all-clear on my 2nd scope this week. Looking forward to starting them so they can end quicker.

Where did April go?? It’s just flew by, and next thing you know, it’ll be May 19th and I’ll have my 2nd cystoscope. I’m staying positive, and looking forward to getting good news!

    Hi Jen,

Like MarySue said, the fatigue does go away. In my case, I had an over-abundance of energy, and would go out and shovel like a madman this past winter, now I’m back to fatigue but I think it’s more related to work…I don’t ever recall needing 12 hours of sleep a day (weekends rock for that), but like I said, I blame work.

I’m a firm believer that your body will tell you what you need….if you need a nap – take it!! Just listen to your body, and keep a positive attitude!!!

    Hi Jen,

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. DDep summed it up quite well.

Keep positive thoughts, and in my case…DO NOT RESEARCH ONLINE TOO MUCH!!! That was the most depressing thing I did when I had to swallow the heavy pill known as cancer. Watch lots of comedies and keep being positive. Also talking about it has helped me. And this forum has lots of great info.

BCG is pretty straight-forward. I’ve only had my initial treatments back in late November/early December, and my Uro assures me that in my case, every 6 months for maintenance for 3 years is sufficient…Overall, the entire procedure took about 10 minutes with a slight discomfort for about 15 seconds, and I was able to walk the 1km home afterwards.

When it comes time for your scope a few weeks after your BCGs, drink lots of water a week before and after with some cranberry capsules to avoid possible UTIs.

    Take care,

    Claude

    Hi Karen,

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but you found the right place for info. If you can get your BCGs on Fridays, I would recommend it. I found I was sluggish the following day, but overall the treatment isn’t so bad…just stay close to a washroom. In my case, the urgency came on quick, but learned that a slight pain on my left side meant “get there now”, and on Mondays I was back to “normal” enough to go back to work.

Thx DDep, Cheryl & Jack and congrats to everyone here

I thought the same DDep after I got home about how he proposed I think about a cystectomy, and here I am (knock on wood).

I was nervous this morning, had trouble sleeping, but I think overall, it was less uncomfortable than BCGs. Happy I couldn’t see anything but my curious side wanted to, but not for long.

I asked about maintenance BCG and he said not until after my next scope (May 17th)…every 6 months for 3 years, which is not I was expecting after reading here about the timeline of treatment, but he’s the doctor.

I got my cranberry pills and drinking water, which I’ve been doing all week preparing….but at the moment, a celebratory beer is in order!

Again, congrats to everyone….we’ll beat this thing, and I’m planning going to a BCC walk in September.

Take care everyone and enjoy the upcoming Family Day (Ontario)…..Family is our rock through all this

Woohoo!!! My 1st of many “all clears”!! Didn’t know what to expect on my 1st cysto, but wasn’t as bad as I imagined. Now I can relax for the next 3 months!

Since this is my 1st scope….any tips or info as to what I can expect? Anything I can do to prepare?

    Thx,

    Claude

    Hi Jon,

I recommend what Jack has mentioned. Have you considered looking in nearby cities like London or Windsor? Just a thought. In the meantime, keep positive thoughts and like DDep mentioned, stay away from too much research online.
