No contest …. (not sure if one wants to be a ‘winner’ in this category). Like you, extensive but low grade, non-invasive. Eight turbts since September 2016 (and here I thought I was special!) …. BCG earlier this year proved ineffective, now on gemcitabine (4/6) treatments thus far/no serious side effects. Urinary incontinence the major on-going issue …. All the best, Michael
June 19, 2019 at 11:15 pm in reply to: Calendar for July 2019 – Who is up for Surgeries, Treatments and Tests? #35795LLTrippeParticipantAfter first BCG six-week session completed, cystoscopy indicated return of cancer so I had endured my eighth TURBT last week (one resident claims he is tired of seeing me). Oncologist/urologist indicated next phase will involve chemo (gemcitabine). Awaiting pathology results at the moment … Nighttime incontinence continues; now afflicted with occasional daytime ‘surge’ incontinence. Okay, I know it’s not a July Calendar entry but thought I would attempt to sneak a question in: anything I should know about gemcitabine as a treatment? Regards to all ….

February 18, 2019 at 5:58 pm in reply to: Calendar for March 2019 – Who is up for Surgeries, Tests and Treatments? #33943LLTrippeParticipantGreetings from what used to be called the “Wet’ Coast … you know, Vancouver and the Lower Mainland where many in the Prairies dreamt of being during the winter? We, too, are enduring a miserable snowy and cold February … the temperature at YVR even got down to -8 degrees C one evening!! (I can just sense the outrage of some forum members in Saskatchewan building …).
After my 7th bladder resection over sixteen months (tumors recurring but still non-invasive) I am scheduled for the first six-week round of BCG treatments commencing in early March. I have been reassured that it remains the gold standard for treatment. Too bad there’s not a gold standard treatment for nighttime urinary incontinence. Is this condition common after several Turbt’s …? Or am I unique? (Don’t bother replying that I’m different; my family has repeatedly assured me of that ….). Regards to all and here’s to an early Spring!
LLTrippeParticipantMr. Moon ….. thank you. That’s good to know.
November 10, 2018 at 11:30 pm in reply to: BCG Treatment and Maintenance Schedule / What have you had? #32895LLTrippeParticipantFirst time commenter. Many thanks to forum members for their insightful and helpful comments ….. I have had endured six TURBTs over the past twelve months (extensive tumors ranging from low to high grade, non-invasive) and, after a recent cystoscopy, have a seventh resection scheduled for January. My oncologist/urologist indicated BCG as a possibility. Any comments re: the efficacy of BCG would be welcome.
