ParticipantHi rob1234, here’s hoping you get positive results. And good to know that the side effects may not be that bad after 6 BCGs. I’ve just had my 3rd and so far, touch wood, the side effects haven’t been too bad. I try to go the the gym about 3 times a weeks and just do what I can. I find this helps with my general health and mental status. All that and drinking half of one of the Great Lakes.

ParticipantHi Floger, stay positive and keep thinking that way. I had 2 TURBTs ,the first to remove tumours and the second to go back in after the path report. Luckily the second found nothing. However I ddI have a blockage and had to return to hospital in an ambulance and spent the next 2 days on irrigation. Not an experience I want to repeat. Recovery time to start doing exercises will most probably depend on age and general health and fitness. You can never drink enough water. I was at least 4 weeks before I could do more than a 15 minute slow walk. After 5 weeks I started back at the gym (no weights or impact) and slowly getting back into it. I’m now walking for 45min+ every day and going to the gym 3 times a week. I find it does my general fitness and health good along with my state of mind. It’s important to have a positive outlook. I’ve just had my 3rd BCG, so far not too many side effects. Fingers crossed. Good luck with the follow up and BCGs.

ParticipantHi MickT, Happy for you that it was caught. Hopefully the 3rd TURBT will be it. I’ve had 2 in the past several months and I’ve just had my 3/6 BCG. Thanks for the useful information. All the best and keeping drinking that water.

ParticipantI had my 2nd BCG today, and feel alot better than the first one.
After the first one, I managed only 1 1/2 hours. The nurse told me to try keep it in for 2 hours. About 3 hours later, it was like a sudden flu. Took Tylenol and went to be. I was fine the following morning.
This week, I managed to keep the BCG in for the full 2 hours. Very proud of myself I am. I took Tylenol when I got home (something that someone on this site recommended) and I think it helps. I feel tired, but not like flu. Also, I drank alot of water.

ParticipantI have my 1st BCG today. I appreciate all the comments and I think I’m fairly prepared, although I don’t think I’ll ever get “used” to having a catheter. I’ll be back with my experiences. Fingers crossed.

Participant<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hi, thanks for the responses. Link and personal stories were very helpful. I guess I just have to wait until they call me and live my life to the full.</p>

ParticipantHi Rob (or anyone else who reads this),
I have just read your posts and I thank you. I just found out today that I will have BCG treatment. Probably starting in a few weeks. I guess I will get more information when I go for my first treatment, but in the mean time if you don’t mind I have a couple of questions.
Any tips before going for my first treatment? When should I stop drinking before? Is it important? Can I drive after the treatment or do I need to have someone with me? Are there any restrictions on travel?
thanks
