My name is Natalie, I’m 43 years old. I have been having troubles for months with my health starting in summer 2017 when I was as diagnosed with sever anemia. I have pelvic pain, more urgency to urinate, lumps in groin, fatigue, appetite loss. For months I thought I was having spotting and irregular periods and I realized very recently sometimes it was blood in urine not spotting. I had anemia in 2017 as I said was out on iron for 6months and last month was found to be severe anemic again. Can doctor have missed bladder cancer for 2 years or would it be detected?

Welcome but I hope that you will not have need of us. You have not mentioned what if any tests that you’ve had to date to check for bladder cancer.
The only way a doctor may be suspicious of bladder cancer is if you reported the blood in the urine and had tests done to check for the cause. If you haven’t already done so, you should have a talk with your GP about getting the cause of the blood in the urine investigated. He/she can order x-rays, ultrasound, CT scan or other tests to see if anything shows up. Sometimes GPs just refer you to a urologist straight off. Tests with the uro could mean scans like mentioned and/or a cystoscopy exam which is when they will numb your urethra with an anesthetic gel and insert a cystoscopy up the urethra to view the inside of your bladder. These exams should reveal if there is anything going on in your bladder or another part of your urinary tract. If there are any tumours then the uro will advise what the next steps are. Usually, it means surgery to removed the tumours which are sent to pathology to confirm whether it is actually cancer and if so, what stage and grade it is.
Don’t delay any longer. Call your doctor. As our motto says, “See Red, See your doctor,” (((((HUGS)))))

She gave me iud and when I had spotting, urine that pink etc I thought it was caused by iud because was told it can cause this for first few months, along with pelvic pain etc. I will be seeing doctor this week and telling her.

Please try not to worry (I know it’s easier said than done). You’re already taking the right step, and that is to see your GP. My recommendation is to write down ahead of time all the symptoms you’re experiencing, so you don’t leave anything out. Be as specific as possible. You should definitely mention to your GP the concern you have about the possibility of Bladder Cancer and see what he/she has to say. I believe it’s ok to request an appointment with a Urologist if you get the sense that your GP is not going to recommend that step. I did when I went to see my GP. BTW, I am a 10 year survivor…
It will be interesting to see what your GP has to say. Please keep us posted on your progress.
Sending you positive thoughts.
My best,
