ParticipantHello Ladies:
Please let me introduce myself. My name is Susan. I’m a 14 year, two time non-muscle invasive bladder cancer survivor. I’ve had 2 TURBTS and 21 BCG treatments with cystoscopy checks in between. I’ve been fortunate to remain clear of bladder cancer since my second TURBT in 2010. It was around this time that I discovered Bladder Cancer Canada. One of the most important parts of this was that I was able to connect with other women and get answers to some questions and situations unique to women. Prior to that my struggle was even harder due to not having anyone to talk to because Bladder Cancer Canada was not up and running yet.
I have been involved with Bladder Cancer in many capacities. I am active on the Discussion Forum, under the pseudonym of Marysue. I also have and continue to provide one to one peer support via email and phone to other women dealing with non-muscle invasive disease. I used to have an in person support group in Calgary with a male co-facilitator that was for both men and women. This group ran from the fall of 2012 to the summer of 2016. I’ve also participated in the Calgary walk and been part of several functions that allowed me to put up displays of materials from Bladder Cancer Canada.
In addition to what I’ve learned along the way with my own journey with bladder cancer, I have also learned much from the women that I’ve talked to when offering peer support. This is probably my biggest motivator in helping launch this group. We are all unique and can offer much to each other. I hope that you will consider joining us on June 1st, 2022. If you are interested please contact my co-facilitator Angela at the email in Theresa’s post above for the Zoom link. Best Wishes to all and I’m looking forward to seeing you on June 1st.

ParticipantThank you Marysue for starting this group and looking forward to joining in on June 1st.
I know we’ve communicated before when I started my journey a year ago. So far I’ve had 4 TURBTs for recurrences of NMIBC, with scopes in between, the last one a month ago, 2 sessions of BCG. I’ve had 10 mid to low grade tumours removed, all noninvasive so far. My Dr. wants me to start maintenance BCG in June with another scope in August. I’m not sure why, as it appears to me that BCG is not working. Anyway, that’s where I am right now.
It will be nice talking to others regarding their journey with Bladder Cancer.
Thank you again Marysue.
Danielle
