Around 3 pm the bear came back…my fault this time . I saw our little squirrel on the fence waiting ,so I brought her a little dish of sunflower seeds…a bears favorite thing But so rare to come during the day.

He ran from us to across the street, to 4 or 5 different places.
Got stuck between two homes and then finally got away. So we thought he was gone.
Then about 8pm we hear a rifle shot and the bear is by our house and running like crazy across the street. Turns out a Deputy sheriff shot in the air to scare him away. That scared us way more than the bear . Hubby went outside and the sheriff told him it was him that shot.

So not sure it is over yet. Bear is hungry, young , and not sure how to hunt well. Garbage to be his thing. And not much around here.

Will let you know if he is sticking around. Across the street the house has a perfect area for a bear to sleep and hide. Hope they don’t have to do anything to him. He is just a hungry bear.

Do you really want me to tell you what a bear day is? Or perhaps you meant beer day.

No I don’t. The bear was here, he is gone….I don’t want any Texan stories about how you were 4 years old and had a bear friend , but had to kill him for food.
Then brought home the bear meat to save your family from starvation . You know how carried away you can get ,

But how ya been , smooooches

But you might have . lol

That must have been “unbearable” for a while. Sorry, somebody had to say it so it may have well have been me. Seriously, I hope that the bear is OK.

We deal with them in the south end of the city once in awhile as there is a large natural green space there complete with the bear’s favourite food banquet of berries and of course human trash when they can find it. If the authorities are called in they are tranquilized and tagged and released well out of the city. If they are repeat offenders-hence the tag, coming into city limits and appear aggressive they are shot. West of here, towards Banff there are lots of black bears and some grizzlies. I’ve seen blacks at a distance while driving but the only grizzlies to date have been the ones in the zoo. While I know they are a part of nature, I don’t plan to make friends with them anytime soon.

Hope I didn’t make Ki mad, I was just kidding . He can tell me what bear day means I guess… scarrrry eeeek!

If they would only make affordable bear proof cans. A lot of vacation houses here , or workers at the casino who make minimum wage.
Vacation house owners surely could afford them if it was mandatory. And people without the funds should be given them. It is horrible how much open garbage is available to bears.

That’s exactly what habituates them and then they’re not afraid of people and that causes problems as we know. Hopefully, the authorities will smarten up.

Actually Jeanne I thought you meant a bare day. You know a bare day…….

No offense taken by your Texan comments. We can handle them, I mean this is not California you know. We deal with dangerous creatures all the time, usually other humans. And thanks for reminding me about my experiences when i wa 5 years old. Actually I did have to sacrifice a bear for the sake of my family. We used to hang out in the woods together. His name was teddy. But in reality he was not actually sacrificed, I only led my family to think he was. Given the choice of my bear or my family, well no contest. The bear won hand down. Or paws down. I brought road kills home to my family and told them it was my bear. They never knew teddy was alive and well. He still lives with me. He gets along great with my dogs and wife. Most people just think he is a robotic bear that I built in my cage, I mean my garage. He’s not a big fan of the human race so he chooses not to have anything to do with them, thus he does not eat them. Sometimes I paint stripes on him and that really confuses the mail man, not much to confuse there. He has stripes too.

OK Greg, are you going to help me with this or not?

I’ve got a bare story you’d never believe, I can;t believe it myself , so never mind.
We haven’t had road kill in a month of Sundays. Ravens get to it first! Then you gotta clean out the tire tread , and yuck ,

So we just have regular food,,,,caviar, pheasant, Stuffed turkey, ….ho hum food,

    You really have Teddy still?

Of course I still have teddy. Who do you think it was that showed up at your door step?

We have plain old food also, lobster tales, filet mignon, crab legs, stuff like that. Boring life.

    Wonder what Greg eats?

Sometimes I barely eat. But not usually. I can hardly bear to think what would happen if I stopped. I would get pretty grizzly looking, I expect. No, I am at the polar opposite of that. Sometimes I eat, bare! But only when I am alone. It puts other people off their food. Bear in mind I am baring my soul here – but nothing else so relax. Besides, I wear half my inside organs around my waist – an insulin pump for my pancreas and a bag for my bladder. I can’t bear to think what happens if my heart acts up again. I take Bayer aspirin so that won’t happen.

I bared down and tried dunking oreos in beer. I barely made it to the outhouse.

Salad sounds awful…are you trying one of your tricks on me your gregness?

Bears still but not as often since a deputy came and shot hi rifle into the air to scare him back to the mountain.
But he did have a nice rest in our yard 2 days ago, and the grass in the lot has a big patch flattened. Looks like he rested
    here again.

We are doing well. Hubby’s PSA test results will be known on the 26th . Hopefully he is still in remission.

Family picnic at Pope Beach the 12th of July..come on by if you are in town xoxo

Are you talking about making the bear into a rug or me? People would trip over my stoma!

Did Ki depart for worlds unknown.? Haven’t seen him around these parts in a few weeks. Or did the bear eat him? No wonder the bear has taken off! He has really bad indigestion.
