LynnMarch 27, 2015 at 5:17 pm #18726BabsParticipantHi Tanya
I can sure relate to the trepidation pre-cysto. To normalize my reaction I remind myself of friends who are many years post Ca diagnosis who still get a little worried prior to their annual checkups. I wish I had inherited my elder brother’s personality. He is a prostate cancer survivor & truly never worries about anything. But we are all unique and must learn to manage our individual psychological traits.
Your upbeat approach to life is so refreshing & inspiring.
I have my fingers crossed for an “all clear” for you on the 31st. Also wishing you much success with your Walk.

Here’s to All Clear…the pre-cysto nervousness is very normal.

March 31, 2015 at 6:51 pm #18754TanyaParticipantTHANK YOU so much for your lovely comments and positive vibes. Todays follow up was not what I was hoping for but I remind myself it could always be worse. My urologist is awesome, I have a great family support system and no matter what need to find the positive and something I can be grateful for in this situation…..5 new (small tumors) post 6 chemo rounds. I will need another surgery and another 6 rounds of BCG. What is everyone’s thoughts? Should I be really worried?
Much Love
TMarch 31, 2015 at 10:15 pm #18755marysueParticipantHi Tanya:
I had a TURBT in 2008 followed by 6 BCG. I was clear for almost 2 years and then a small tumour was found at a cysto check. I had a second TURBT followed by 15 more BCGS and have been clear for going on 6 years. My take is yes, be concerned but ask your doc about how he views your risk factors and go with that since you have good confidence in your uro. It does take time for treatment to work in some people. Reoccurrences are common even during active treatment. Bladder cancer has a 50-80% reoccurrence rate. Hopefully the second TURBT and follow up treatments will do the trick this time. Best wishes going forward and keep us posted. (((((HUGS)))))
April 1, 2015 at 4:45 pm #18756sheltiesParticipantHi there Tanya, from one Nova Scotian to another, I hope your next rounds of BCG do the trick for you. Its’ great to hear that you have a lot of confidence in your Urologist. That means so much when on this journey called Bladder Cancer. I don’t know about being worried, worrying doesn’t get us anywhere, but cautious is always good because we need to be vigilant in keeping track of what is going on with our treatment. It is certainly a roller coaster ride for sure, and most of us would not choose to be on it, if we had a choice. Good luck with your next surgery and BCG treatments that will follow. Keep us posted on how things go for you. Above all, be kind to yourself as you go through this next round.
Take care.

Sorry about the recurrence. I had 2 recurrences between 2006 and 2007 during treatments. Finally the 3rd set of BCG treatments worked and I have been all clear since 2007. Stay positive, sometimes it just takes the treatments a few times before your immune system gets the needed boost to fight off cancer cells.
I do recommend you get a copy of your pathology report following your upcoming Turbt.
All the best,

Sorry to hear about the recurrence however it is not unusual. Like others, I too, had recurrences (2) and was treated with BCG each time following removal of the tumors. Your Urologist seems on top of everything and with a plan..that’s good. As Jack suggested, getting a copy of the path report and perhaps help, if you need, with understanding what it means is a really good approach. Stay strong, stay positive and above all, Believe you can beat this…
Prayers and thoughts for the best outcome…keep in touch…

April 3, 2015 at 1:32 pm #18773charbarryParticipantGood Morning Tanya,
Another Nova Scotian here-
Sorry to hear of your recurrence, always disappointing news. I also found out at yesterdays cysto that I have two new tumours, with surgery on the immediate horizon. Had to see a new urologist ( mine is out on medical leave, prostate cancer), so was extra nervous. I am so impressed with the new doctor, completely at ease with him, always a great thing. So glad you have a urologist that’s awesome too! Does it take long to have surgery scheduled there?
At least it’s April, surely the snow will soon stop- we still have FEET of it, as I’m sure you do there- always something good to look forward to, lol.
Thinking positive thoughts!Charlotte
