Greg
ParticipantThe good news is:
I need more surgery to remove urethral tumours (no surprise);
The better news is:
I will not lose any body parts (delighted);
The best news is:
Not once did the uro tell me to dig out my will and get my affairs in order!He is taking my case before the “tumour” board, thirteen professionals in cancer treatment who can look at my case and recommend what else, if anything, to do. As he said: “Thirteen heads are better than one.” While that certainly is not always the case, I believe in this case it is true.
Isn’t it awesome to have first class surgeons at a world class hospital discussing treatment with renowned specialists so that I can obtain the best in care! Don’t settle for less than the best when it comes to cancer treatment. In Canada, there simply is no need to do so.
So I’ll have more surgery in the next couple of weeks (or whenever it can be booked). This is number 9 for me, but only my second since my radical cystectomy three years ago. And what I have is relatively uncommon – much like myself!!!
Thank you all for your concern.
Greg

ParticipantLove this post. Love the results you heard about today. Love your candour and humour. Love your positive approach to “living with cancer” and its results. Love how you give of yourself to others and BCC in the midst of your own health concerns. Love YOU, man…….

InactiveGreg,
Glad to hear you will not be losing any body parts…you might look funny without them. Too bad you need more surgery though…oh well, I guess those surgeons just can’t get enough of you. Kinda like us…we need you around here so I am also thrilled that they didn’t get you to open the safe and get that will out. Besides, we know you are leaving everything to me…right? Greg? Right???
I am choosing to laugh with you since I know humour is both your way and my way to get through these things that keep getting thrown at us. As always, I will ask Mike to watch over you…maybe he can even watch over the gang of surgeons at the tumour board. I suspect he qualifies as some sort of expert…besides, they’ll never know he is there 🙂
Sending you some major hugs (((((((())))))))

ParticipantGlad the news is good Greg but sorry that it means another surgery. I too, have had multiple surgeries (11 in all I think) 5 being urological ones. 2 were TURBTS for BC. I think that the fact the you can remain full of humour while doing this sets an example for all of us. That is one thing I struggled with. When I learned I needed yet anther procedure I was in a bad mood for days. I’m sure that you could get into the Guinness World Book of Records for the number of procedures you’ve had. LOL! Best of luck and keep us posted.

ParticipantGreg, as always, thank you for your candor, humour, and keeping us informed! You and the anticipated path results have been in my thoughts. Your surgeon has a fabulous approach in planning your care pathway! Very excited for you that there is not any anticipated parts loss!

ParticipantGreg, you really need to find a new hobby! My nerves can’t take this one!
Happy to hear the positive news despite the OR visit. Much like you I love my uro, he is a straight faced joker but he really knows his stuff! We both have a great team. A great team in hospital and a great team in BCC! (yes I’m feeling sappy today).
See you Thursday!
