So recently I decided to try to rid my home of toxins and went back to the basics, vineagar, baking soda, lemons, tea tree oil ect. I followed suit with paying more attention to the food my family consumes. I have never really been sold on the whole organics thing….but with all the media attention on GMO Food and a young son I decided to try and eat healthier, loose weight and get focused. Hasn’t helped this entire Cancer Battle I watch with my Dad. Organics seem so expensive at the regular supermarkets and to buy at a specialty health store is not in the cards for me. I love buying from farms, but still can’t be sure of the pesticides or chemicals sprayed. I looked around and found OrganicsLive? Has anyone else used this home delivery organic produce company. Its great so far, I have had two deliveries and they have been fresh, great quality and what I see as a fair price. Let me know your thoughts? Take a poll! Give me suggestions if you have any. I am also paying more attention to the meat we eat by using a very reputable butchery company.

I buy organic when I can and try to use the basics in cleaning ie vinegar and baking soda as much as possible. I use as little or as chemical free personal products as possible ie natural deodorant, shampoo that is almost chemical and dye free. That being said I still go to a hairdresser about every 3 months to get a decent cut and she streaks my grey hair with dark brown streaks. She uses a dye that is mostly free of harsh stuff and uses foils so that the dye doesn’t sit on my scalp. While hair dye has a reputation for possibly being cancer causing and yes it could have contributed to my bladder cancer since in the past I did it myself and the dye sat on my scalp for long periods of time, I still do this since my exposure to the dye is very minimal. My hair is a real ugly white/light grey/yellow colour if left to go natural so this is my compromise. I can’t comment on Organics Live since I’ve not investigated whether they are in my city or not. I try to eat simple foods and avoid the processed stuff as best I can. Less is more. Since we all live in different areas and have different resources I think it is a matter of selecting the best we can within that. You can wash your fruits and veggies in vinegar and water to remove a lot of the chemicals. I haven’t tried it to date but the ratios are online.

We often buy frozen veggies and from what we understand these products offer the same nutritional value.
I think the key is to have a good balanced diet which keeps the body’s immune system strong to fight the toxins we take-in…today’s individual eating practices are much better than years pass which is helping us live healthier longer.

I consume only organic foods. Being in a small community, it is hard to find organics in stores but here is my list: Costco, Sobeys, Co-Op, Superstore (President’s Choice). Best prices have been Superstore and Costco. Nutters carries organic but it is generally more expensive. I no longer go to specialty health stores for organic foods. About 30 years ago I twigged onto regular flour being a problem. Can consume organic flour and no problems. A couple years ago I had a reaction to peaches. This blew me away. No idea why until a couple months later I read that the FDA had approved higher levels of pesticide and chemical residues on our food. Can’t confirm, but this is highly suspect for causing a reaction. When diagnosed with BC, went as organic as I could. Now, even consuming small amounts of non-organic foods starts a reaction. As this has happened a couple times without my knowledge, I assume the reactions are not all in my head. That world of knowing I ate something non-organic and subsequently making myself sick risk.
Went all organic because, who knows, maybe something in the non-organic food caused the BC. Not worth the risk.
Besides, overall, organic food tastes so much better. Tastes like it did when I was a kid.
Now friends and relatives are starting to take another look at organic foods because food tastes so good at my house.Who knows, may have started something.
