How many of you recall the 1962 Studebaker lark?

This is a pass-fail so take this seriously. It will also be on the final.

I was only 4 years old and only knew that cars came in different shapes, sizes and colours. I did know the name of my dad’s car, “Morris”. LOL!

A Studebaker bike? OK Jack. You probably have Studebaker golf clubs too. And Greg, 7 years old. No way, you just turned 8. And Jeanne, good job going to Google Images. But tell me how you got the pics posted.

OK, the reason I entered into this topic is because I just found, accidentally, a 1962 Studebaker Lark. Fully complete, well cared for and runs and rives really nice. Needs brake work and that’s about it. As y’all know I am a car crazed maniac. So now I have the 62 and my 99 Camaro is totally dismantled in the body shop getting a premier paint job.

Surely more of you know the Studebaker Lark. Studebaker, although not the lark, is, or was, the oldest automobile manufacturer in the world at the time it stopped production at the Hamilton, Ontario plant. That’s right. They were made in the U.S. and In Canada. In Jack’s back yard.

    Ki,

Come on dude…I saw that car once…funny looking thing with square nose and noooobody to speak of. Who saw you coming…better still, hope you got the contact info. It’s not an investment for return but for…well, I really don’t know why you’d want that model. Now the Hawk or the Gran Tur would be more for you…or better still, the Avanti, especially if you are a Camero fan.

I’m a c’vette fan myself but settled for the sporty Mazada MX5.

Don’t “stu” over that too long, if I were you.

I asked a guy if he would trade his car for my Focus. I mean a Focus is a nice little car. But he said he thinks he’ll keep his Corvette,
I just don’t get it. Sigh

Hmmm…I was -11 at that point in time. Not a stunner, but no doubt a tank.

I miss the simplicity of the old cars. You didn’t need a computer to fix it, nor much more than a small set of tools.

I’ve also had a Focus, and that was my first and last Ford. I would list all the things that went wrong with it but I think the site has a limited number of characters per post. Lets just leave it with the 22 recalls.

Ki, if you know anyone with a 60’s camero, lets talk! Whoa Nelly!

Actually, Rick, I would rather have a Hawk. I like the President and the Speedster. My grand father had a Champion. The lark though is cool. Simplistic in design, front end like a Mercedes, rear deck like a 55 Ford Fairlane and nice conservative side panels. And of course very efficient use of space instead of extravagant use of metal (like the Corvettes). But have to agree though the Hawks are really cool. I never could find a Hawk I could afford, only ones that were Northeast rust buckets.

I found this one, actually my wife saw it first (and she can’t tell the difference between the space shuttle and a golf cart). She said “look at that old car”. I did, love at second sighting. It wasn’t for sale. The man who owned was dying of cancer and had 3 weeks to live. We chatted and had a great get together. He really needed this car at this time in his life, he really loved it. I told him he needed to keep it and after a great development of a friendship I left. He called me two weeks later and said he wants me to have the Studebaker because no one appreciates them and hw knew I would take care of it. His son wanted it too so he decided to sell it so that he didn’t have to deal with a family issue. I gave the 4K he wanted and got the car. He died a week later. But the lark will be well loved and cared for in his memory. His wife is very happy about that and so is his son. It’s a wonderful story. And it is a nice car, but clearly not a Vette. I still would like a Hawk and maybe someday I’ll find one. Maybe I should name it Rick.

A Ford Focus, Jeanne? Seriously. I can’t imagine why that person would not trade his Vette for it. Maybe he wasn’t crazy like we are. But Eddie does have a point. The focus (which obviously you were not when you bought that thing) is worse than anything on the roads. I don’t want to hurt the feelings of Ford lovers but Eddie is right. This sight has limited server capacity we need to stick to Studebakers and Vettes and of course Camaros. If I come across a 60’s Camaro that I don’t buy first I’ll let you know, Eddie. My Camaro is still dismantled but the suspension mods have been done and the sanding and blocking are done. They started priming it today. I went in their paint lab to look at the types of pearl and metal flake additives for the hood scoop. That will be gun metal gray with metal flake of red, green and orange over a light pearlescent. Hard to describe. Then it will be reassembled, the new wheels and tires put on, the brake calipers painted Orange, the SS logos put on and a few other details. Oh yeah, and the interior panels, seats and trim will be put back in. All new custom leather with hand sewn factory color matched long horn (Hugger Orange) on black leather on the head rests. Eat your heats out. This machine is going to be sick! For those thinking it’s a plastic or metal model, forget that. this one is real. Now on to the Hawk!
