Yesterday my wife said she had to go the office to get something. I asked her to get something in the warehouse for me to which she happily obliged. Two things, a specific tool bos and a can of black spray paint. I have everything in my warehouse and it’s location memorized as I do with most things like the ATV, shredder, trailer, extra security lights, bulbs, every nut and bolt, paints, specific tools, tie downs, strapping, and so on. I told here where to find the tool box. I told her the color, where it was and even the dimensions. It was where I said but she couldn’t find it, until she looked where I told her. No problem. Now the paint. Told her exactly where it was along with several other cans. Gave her the color, the manufacturer, etc.etc. She couldn’t find it. Told here wich rack, which shelf and how far to the left of the wall it was and how far forward of the ATV it was. Ahhhh! Behold! She found it. Great, except that she had to add (which took at least ten minutes) that it was next to a can of green spray paint and to the left of it and two inches behind another can that was red and on and on and on. I told her just bring it home but no. She had to go on and on. I told here I did not need the longitude, latitude and elevation, just the paint. She hung up on me. So why can’t a woman just get the item that was requested and take it to her husband? Why do woman have to give every non-essential non descriptive word related to it’s date of production, manufacturer, place of purchase, date of expiration, longitude, latitude and elevation? I just needed the *** paint!!!!!!!!!!!! Women!!!!!!!! And yes I fully understand how much trouble I am in.

Man you are back in true form! Don’t get me started on this one! As an only woman in a household of men I can truthfully say that men are worse. My hubby or kids would ask where something was and I’d tell them and they’d go and look and sway they couldn’t find it. I’d go and look and the said item would be exactly where I said it was IN PLAIN SIGHT! Men have vision problems some times. Yes, Kiowa you are in a lot of trouble!!

As the saying goes: “Don’t tell me how to build the watch, I only asked what time it was.” Studies show (see “The Female Brain”) that women speak an average of 20,000 words per day whereas men speak only 7,000 words per day.
    ‘Nuff said!

I think that we have to say more just to get our points across because men don’t listen! LOL! 😛

Now Mayrysue. Why we we be able to find something. What’s the point of looking if it is right in front of us. That defeats the whole purpose. Besides, it’s not that men don’t listen, it’s that we don’t care. Plus if we listened we might have a response and that’s when the fight would begin.

Yup, Keith is right. I also think some like to hear what they say so that they can develop their vocabulary. And so far only Marysue has responded. Now that makes me wonder if there is some kind of plot being developed to silence us. Scary moment guys.

Sorry I just had to add this. GPS is a device for directions right? What is it about guys and getting lost? My hubby would rather drive around forever rather than get out and ask for directions. No, we don’t own a GPS and don’t plan to. I’m old fashioned and prefer to use a real live paper map. He doesn’t get lost with me in the car but has real fun when out on is own! LOL! 😛

Well there is a very good answer to this actually. First of all men have it right. Maps are for people who are lacking in intellect, stamina, independence and are essentially very fearful of the world around them. Men on the other hand are better able to deal with the environment around them. They are competent, confident, intelligent and not fearful. They can negotiate the environment and thus by avoiding the use of maps they sharpen their independence and their skills. They also do it to drive their wives crazy. GPS however, if different from a map in that it calculates your elevation in addition to latitude and longitude which maps cannot do. thus men have no concern about using GPS. They understand the limitations of maps and prefer that their wives use them. Plus, it is much more exciting to get lost.

I don’t trust those friggin’ GPS systems. Someone I know when visiting Calgary plugged in to get directions to the airport and ended up in a farmer’s field outside city limits. Others have told me the GPS has told them to turn a certain direction and the road didn’t even exist or it would say to turn right when it should have said left etc etc. I also find the voice annoying and distracting. Give me a map anyday!! Seriously, I was fortunate to have a really good geography teacher in Grade 12. On a school field trip one of the activities was called orienteering. We were dropped off in a wooded area with a map and compass and had to find our way to a certain spot. Staff knew where we were so if we honestly got lost they could locate us easily and this was without GPS locators. We learned how to locate the good old fashioned way. To this day I can find my way around in a strange city or place really well because of the skills I developed thanks to this teacher.
