While I haven’t had my pathology come back yet I am preparing myself through research of worse case scenarios. My tumour was very large. It is papillary. I’m expecting minimum stage 3 high grade. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone has experience with an urostomy bag being morbidly obese. (330lbs and 5’8”) location, issues, complications? Would a neobladder be better in my case?

    Hello DV2061,

In my last Support Group meeting, we had a NSWOC who is very knowledgeable about Urostomy and the external bag.  We also had several patients both in-person as well as via Zoom.  The person who was having the most difficulty with leakage had a relatively large belly.  The nurse observed that this person’s urostomy was protruding quite a bit even though the stoma was an ‘innie’ as opposed to protruding outward.  She provided several options to this person to try.

May I ask if you’re interested in talking with a peer support volunteer on a 1:1 basis or even this nurse who might be willing to talk with you.  I’ll have to check.  BTW, she is very knowledgeable on all things related to ostomy/urostomy.  Let me know please.

    My Best,

    Hi DV2031,

No worries.  Let me know after your results are in and after speaking with your doctor.

    My best,
