…..related…. nutrition during chemo….I ate foods rich in fibre (porridge, bean dishes) and kept well hydrated to help combat constipation during chemo treatment. More details in my post from last year called “GETTING ‘PASSED’ CONSTIPATION”. I am currently talking with our local Loblaws dietician about maybe having a cooking class focused on nutrition during chemo and after surgery to help with recovery.

We are fortunate to have a really good dietician connected to Wellspring Calgary to help with diet and nutrition. I will be attending some health care presentations next week and will be on the lookout for anything tied to nutrition. If I find anything useful. I’ll post it.

I attended a dietitian talk at our local Cancer Care Group meeting the other week which I found very useful, he also told me the American Institute of Cancer Research is a good place for cancer/diet information, haven’t been there yet but I will.

I picked up some booklets on nutrition from the reference library at our Kingston Regional Cancer Center and have arranged to meet with the dietician at our local Loblaws cooking school. We may put on a short in-store event here in Kingston sometime in February. Loblaws in Barrie hosted an event that we might use as a model here…

A good opportunity for cancer patients, caregivers and interested public to meet in a quiet month between our September Walk and May Awareness Month.
