I am minutes new to this site and already feeling a sense of welcome as I browse info! My name is Tanya. I am a wife, a mother of three, a sister, a daughter, a friend, an entrepreneur, a dreamer, a doer, a believer and a bladder cancer fighter! I am 38yrs old and was diagnosed with bladder cancer in May 2014. Since then I had three surgeries and having my last of 6 BCGs this Friday! I have my bet on a clean bill of health at my next follow up cysto! Like I said, I am a believer! I am happy to introduce myself and help support and raise awareness in any way possible.

A reluctant welcome from me to you. Only reluctant due to the circumstances.
I was diagnosed 2 days prior to my 40th birthday after months of antibiotics and misunderstandings. I was “lucky” in that I haven’t had to undergo any BCG as yet and had a Ta stage Low grade stoweaway removed. It has been over a year and a half and I’ve had “all clear” as the result ever since.
I love your positive nature and belief! You will find a great amount of information and people that have undergone what you have and a fantastic support system.

March 3, 2015 at 9:09 pm #18652TanyaParticipantHey Ed!
Thanks for the welcome. I too went through the antibiotics/misunderstandings for about a year. Fortunatley, I am one who is persistant and was my own biggest advocate.
I am thrilled you have no signs/symptoms in that long!!! wooohooooo!!!! That’s something huge to celebrate! I am having a celebration this Friday as it is my LAST round of chemo.
I am glad you appreciate my positive outlook. I am a firm believer that what you think about, you bring about! Mindset and belief is key to anything in life! I have already found some comfort from this group. I am looking forward to hopefully impacting/helping others and raising awareness in my area and the world about this disease!
Much Love

Glad you reached out and connected…you are among friends here who face similar challenges as you and like you “We are Believers”. Similar to you I went through 12 months+ of surgeries and BCG treatments (2012 -2013)…my last cysto was Dec 2014 which marked nearly 18 months of all clear. I’m scheduled for another cysto this April and am looking forward (with prayers and hope) to another all clear.
You have a very positive outlook which will serve you well. Stay strong, be well and always ask questions to the forum…the more you ask the better. BCC is also here to help with some one off things should you need such as 1) interpretation of a pathology report, 2) where are tops medical staff are for your area or not too far away, etc. At the top of this page are contact info for emails and telephone… I mention this because when I was faced with this I was scared and while the internet has lots of info half the stuff I read made me even more nervous. I got a copy of my pathology report and BCC helped me better understand my situation.
Cheers…thoughts and prayers are with you…

Hoping that the 6 BCG treatments did their job, and your immune system can now fight off any recurrences. Took BCG a while to work in my case, but finally did the job. Been cancer free since 2007 after 30 BCG treatments.
All the best,
JackMarch 7, 2015 at 1:22 pm #18665TanyaParticipantHello Jack!
