Hi, my name is Susan and I have Bladder Cancer. I am awaiting my 4th scrape after being cancer free almost 2 years…but its back! I am 68 years old. My Maternal Grandmother died at 75 with Bladder Cancer. Thank goodness treatment has changed since then…great to be apart of a forum letting me know I am not alone!

Hi there Susan, welcome to the forum, but sorry for why you’re here. It must have been very disappointing for you to discover a recurrance of bladder cancer after two years being cancer free. I’m sorry this has happened to you again, but I guess we, who are in this same boat, know the possibility of cancer recurrance. Its’ still disheartening though. If there’s a bright side to this ??? you’ve been down this road before, so you know the ropes and what to expect in treating this disease. You will find people here to be very supportive and it makes a big difference to know it is not a road you travel alone. I’m sorry you lost your grandmother to bladder cancer. Back then there likely wasn’t as much known about treating bladder cancer or the available treatments that we have today. Good luck with your treatment and be sure to come back and connect with others on here who are on the same road.

    Hi Susan,

Welcome to the Forum…we are glad you reached out to folks who understand what you are going through and who are here to help in anyway we can. Having a recurrence is a bummer…I’ve had 2 but glad to say that I’ve been cancer free for nearly 3 years now and on 6 month bladder watch. Others on the this form have had recurrences too and are doing very well many years afterwards.

As Lorraine said, your experience will certainly help deal with what to expect before and after a TURBT. Many of us have asked our URO for a copy of the pathology report to better understand the grade and stage. Should you choose to do the same, and you would like assistance, there are people on this form who can help you understand what you and your URO are dealing with. Simply call the number above on this page and/or post a request on this Forum.

Please keep in touch…Best Wishes for a most favorable outcome from your upcoming procedure.

    God Bless.

    Rick

    Hi Susan!

I join the others in saying welcome but sorry to learn that you are one of us dealing with this disease. You are right in that treatments of BC have progressed and will continue to do so thanks in a large part to this organization. Keep up the fight and let us know if you have questions or just need a shoulder to cry on. We all need that and that is why we are here for each other. Take care and let us know how you are. ((((HUGS))))
