    Hi to everyone.

This past Wednesday I met with my urologist to receive the pathology report for my past TUR (second in five months) I had on Sept 28th. It was not what I prayed for as there was a recurrence. Three very early very small less than a cm TA LG tumors removed. I have to be thankful that as of now I am cancer free.

I asked if I would receive BCG again, but was told it was too early as BCG takes time to kick in and my last treatment was July 21st. I am scheduled for a cyso in early Jan. After the results of this cyso I guess then we will discuss a treatment plan.

All of this has been very overwhelming and will continue to be. I am trying to be thankful for each and everyday and live one day and one moment at a time. I have to keep positive!

Reading your experiences and your advice to others has helped me.

Thank you and please continue to give me your support and prayers.

    God bless.

    Hello Marie

Boy, can I relate to where you are at! At my second cysto there were four tumors. Absolutely floored me and then I went swinging from the rafters. Fast forward a year, two more surgeries, four cystos and removal of numerous tumors, I got my first all clear!

Looking back, was I ever naive that the cancer would be gone the first round. If I had been realistic, it wouldn’t have been so hard to take the second time around. This would be my biggest advise for those starting their journey.

You have your own answer to handling this journey “I have to be thankful that as of now I am cancer free.” That is it exactly. Regardless of what the future brings, those tumors are gone and that means they are no longer having free reign in your bladder.

Confused about it being too early for BCG again. For me, the tumor removed in June was high grade so I was put on 6 BCG treatments. These ended August 21 and Oct 19 I start my next round (maintenance this time as last cysto in Sept was clear). I am a big, big believer in BCG based on my research, my journey and the journey of others. If I were you, I would be getting a second opinion. Can get a referral through BCC also.

Don’t sit back and do nothing. If a second opinion is the same, that will put your mind to rest. If the second opinion is different, then you can move forward with better treatment. DO NOT sit back and do nothing! Too many people implicitly trust their doctor and some times they shouldn’t trust so blindly. Yes, it is comfortable to trust as that makes life easier but it doesn’t necessarily mean the best for your health.

Must ask: have you been taking those deep breaths, or two or three or four? Then hunt out someone you love and get a great big hug. Spend time with those you love and those you are close to. Then find something to laugh about. Once you can laugh, you will start recovering.

    Take care

Hi Cheryl, I always love hearing from you.

My doctor has not ruled out BCG maintenance in the future. He feels that due to this present recurrence as being low grade and very small it does not constitute another round of BCG. I understand what you are saying, but I have read that BCG does take some time to begin to be effective. Even if I would be going for another round of BCG I would have to wait for my bladder to heal from the TUR and when you think about it my next cyso is not that far off.

Yes, I am taking those deep breaths and appreciating those who are close to me.

    Take care

    Hi Marie,

Low grade non-invasive is great news. Like Cheryl, I am a believer in BCG. My case was slightly different than yours. I had low grade but with CIS present hence the frequency of BCG when I had a recurrence. Yes, I had 2 recurrences within 12 months so they do happen and in nearly 70% of the cases…you are not alone in this. I have been cancer free for over 2 years and hoping my 6 month follow-up later this week will be another all-clear.

Stay positive, stay strong and believe in continuous all-clears. Prayers and best thoughts with you always…may god bless.

Rick, thank you for your encouraging words and prayers.

It is wonderful that you have been cancer free for over 2 years! I will pray that you receive an all clear report this week.

    God bless
    Marie
