First of all, Lorraine, let me say that I have asked three different specialists and they have all said that my Lung and Bladder Cancers are two primary cancers.

I had a lobectomy (right middle lobe removed). Good news and bad news. The surgeon was very happy that they got all the cancer (did not spread to the lymph nodes) but because there was more than one area of the lobe that had cancer cells, they classify it as a stage 2. So as a preventative, I will need chemo.

I saw the oncologist at Princess Margaret on Monday. She was not quite as positive that the cancer had not spread and thought there might be some cells that had escaped that are impossible to see under a microscope. She mentioned that the chemo would improve my chances of the cancer not recurring by 10%. So, my treatments start on the 24th of June and will last until September/October.

Even though I quit smoking 35 years ago, my doctors tell me that my smoking was likely the reason for both cancers.

    All the best to everyone

    Bev,

I haven’t logged in for a little while but I am so sorry to hear of your lung cancer. I will be thinking of you on the 24th when the chemo gets started. I certainly hope all goes well and that you are not in any pain from this cancer.

    Sending hugs.

Monique (and my sweet angel Mike who I am sure is watching over you too)

Sorry to hear about the lung cancer. It would appear that it was caught early stage which is good news. Wishing you the very best…prayers and thoughts always.
