    Hi my BCC family,

Well, it has been a year today since Mike left his bladder cancer behind and all his pain too.

Unfortunately, that was also the day I became a 45 year-old widow.

I won’t lie, this year his been challenging to say the least but today I am choosing to celebrate the person Mike was and I am asking you all to do the same.

Mike was a vibrant, funny, outgoing sweetheart of a man who would help anyone in need. He loved animals, kids and had a particular soft spot for the elderly since he was raised mainly by his grandparents. To top it all off he loved me with every fiber of his being and I was so lucky to have him in my life for 14 years.

So, if you can, please take a moment today to do something nice for someone in need and in doing so you will be honouring Mike and everything he stood for.

Remembering Mike with affection, though we never met in person. His life is a lesson for us all to live while we are alive and he showed us how to do so with dignity and humour. We honour his memory and support you as you miss his presence, but enjoy his deep love.

    Hi Monique:

Even though we haven’t met in person I just want to let you know that I think you both were very brave going down the road that Mike dealt with last year. Yes, he is free from pain and suffering which is what we all want for our loved ones and I’m glad to know that you are doing your best to try to remember the good times and the great person that he was. This is not easy I know.

The life lesson I think we learn from a cancer journey be it as a caregiver or patient is just how precious life really is and how to give thanks for each day and savour the simple pleasures. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. Stay in touch with us and let us know how you are. Take care. (((((HUGS))))

I think we all miss Mike a lot. I’ll do something especially nice for some one today in his memory. Even if it has to be Greg . I’m sure mike in his humor would approve. Thank you so much for staying with us, as Mike did, you have and continue to help all of us.

Monique: I am sorry that I was away on the 15th. I am not only remembering Mike today, but thinking about it, I actually think of you and Mike more often than I realized.

    All the best

Thank you all for your thoughts. I spent the day with my best friend Ruth and we took a few walks down memory lane, looking at pictures and remembering how much fun Mike liked to have. We went out for dinner with my new friend Debbie who also lost her hubby to cancer last year just shortly after Mike. It was warm enough here for us to sit outside on the patio of our favorite little restaurant that faces the St-Lawrence river. It was beautiful and I am quite certain Mike would have approved.

I appreciate the fact that you are all still here for me.

P.S. – Ki, I’m not sure Mike would want you to start being TOO nice to Greg…I mean, let’s not get carried away!!!
