ParticipantAs some of you know I’ve embarked on major renos for my house. We are now into the biggest project – you guessed it- the kitchen. Well, it has been one thing after another. It started with the actual start date getting delayed from last Friday to this Monday. The contractor and installer show up early Monday morning. Contractor said that he would return at noon with the cabinets and the plumber would show up mid afternoon to do his stuff. Good to know. Well, 3pm rolls around, no plumber, no cabinets. The installer puts in a call and finds out that the cabinets aren;t ready even though we were told that they were. Plumber shows up around 5pm and disconnects sink and dishwasher. Next day they show up with only the base cabinets. The installer gets those in. Wednesday the materials for the countertop show up. I was told that the countertop was to be assembled at their shop and then brought to the house for install. It takes the installer a day and a half to get the countertop made and installed. Today the upper cabinets come but are missing some doors and some shelves for the base cabinets too. The crown molding was to come too but didn’t. Right now I don’t know if they will finish tomorrow or Tuesday after the long weekend. What has arrived and been installed is really super nice so I know eventually I will have a decent kitchen but it is the lack of communication that has caused a lot of unnecessary stress and confusion.I do after 4 days finally have a sink but still no dishwasher. RIGHT NOW I JUST WANT TO SCREAM!!! Kiowa, I need some tequila ASAP!!

ParticipantNo, they just lie. They start maqny jobs at once and tell clients they will get the job done soon. But they have no plan to do that. they want the contract. Then they skip from one to another, and in the procees yes, there is a communications problem. But’s it is one where communication is never made. To appease the customer they get one thing done so they keep (or think) that will make the customer feel better. I had a new kitchen put in my bed and breakfast. But I hired a cabinet make to do everything from scratch on site. I got the measurements from him re: appliances and I ordered and had them delivered before he started. Same with the electrician. Always best to have them built on site. But your kitchen will come out just fine and you’ll be happy with it. Of course my temperament is probably different from yours and I have a -0- toleration from bull s……….. So I guess the party is now moved to your house. Good. Been moving this party around for years.

ParticipantKiowa,
How did they get a new kitchen in your bed? And also in your breakfast? Do you eat breakfast in bed? Is your bed in the kitchen? You sure would not want them to do a crumby job if it was in your bed! I hate crumbs in bed. Of course, I hate kitchens in bed too so I guess the crumbs would not really be too noticeable. What exactly was the cabinet maker scratching on site? Was he also in your kitchen in your bed having breakfast? All these questions. I’m confused. -
