Last week at work, I started feeling pretty crappy.  Non-stop headache for days.  Very lethargic, felt beat for days.  Super smelly pee.  Very frequent peeing.  Never felt empty.  Hesitant peeing/ backed-up sort of thing.  Severe burning.  Fever.  Stringy Mucus blood in tiny amount on three days straight.  Super yellow even orange urine although can’t be sure.  Went to a walk-in clinic and they took a urine sample and prescribed 10 day run of antibiotics.  I have never gone through something like this before.  Healthy Male, 53 years old.  I don’t feel good about this at all.  At best, this was result of an enlarged prostate.

Anybody.  What should I be thinking here?

    Hi Denis

If the urine sample showed a bladder infection, hence the antibiotics. All of the symptoms you have indicate an infection urine, which are the same when I was having bladder infections except for the “Stringy Mucus Blood” in your urine. Hopefully the medications clear everything up.
If you continue not to feel good about this, or you continue to have to see blood in your urine I recommend you get referred to a Urologist.
Keep us posted on your progress.
    All the best,
    Jack

Thanks Jack.  I’m seeing my GP on Monday and will ask for an exam of my prostate and bladder.  Over the years, with all the medical issues I’ve had, I’ve learnt to be respectful but reasonably clear and firm about what I expect in terms of follow-up exams.  I don’t muck around with severe stuff like the big C.

    Hi Denis:

I agree that you are on the right track in getting checked out.  Better safe than sorry. Hopefully the antibiotics will work.  I strongly recommend having a follow up check once you finish the antibiotics to make sure that the infection is gone and hopefully the other exams to check for bladder cancer and prostate issues will prove to be a non event and that your issues were strictly related to an infection.  Please let us know how it goes.  ((((HUGS))))
