Looking to chat with others having had urostomy surgery… having somewhat chronic urinary tract infections which are unidentifiable and having to guess at treatment options… anyone else?

    Hello

As others say, welcome to the site no one wants to belong to.

How is your journey with BC going? Have you had a second opinion or gone to a different specialist regarding the UTIs?

Can’t help you on the urostomy surgery. As far as the UTIs, how much water do you drink? Drinking lots (8-10 glasses a day in addition to what else you consume) can make a difference. From my experience, I actually drink 12-14 glasses a day (doctor regularly panics and checks my mineral levels and they are always fine) and, after 2 years of this journey including 3 surgeries, 6 scopes and 24 BCG treatments, only one UTI. Yes, I suspect I didn’t get enough water in me right after the scope that preceded the infection.

If you try and push yourself past the 8 glasses of water a day, eat a banana every day and take a multi-vitamin.

    Take care
    Cheryl
