I guess it works along the same lines as “How do they get the caramel inside the Caramel Bar?” One of life’s mysteries. I keep it simple and use non-hydrogenated margarine that comes in plastic tubs that I can recycle. Much easier.
Let the butter sit to near room temperature , slide finger under seam , hold it up off the plate and it unwraps itself practically.

One thing I did recently try that works nicely also is to just put the stick of butter in whatever you are heating and then pull the wrapper out. In a hurry to get your book Jeanne.
