    Hi Carson,

It is good that you’re thinking about questions to ask in advance.  I want to first say that I have not had a CT scan of my bladder, but I have had one for my brain to check to see if there were signs of a brain hemorrhage.  For the scan, most of my questions were related to the physical scan itself – such as does a CT scan potentially cause a cancer to occur down the road?  will I feel anything? How long before I see the results? and so on.  I’m thinking in your case you’ll likely have questions once the results are in, such as.

How accurate is a CT scan in detecting Bladder Cancer
Can I see what it looks like on the Scan
Will I still need to have s Cystoscopy done after the CT Scan
Without any add’l background, a question I have is, what is the reason for why your doctor wanted you to have the CT Scan
Has you doctor also got you lined up for a Cystoscopy
That is all I can think of at the moment, but if it’s possible for you to provide add’l background, that will help us in providing more information for you to work with.

    My best,

I think it depends of the reason for the CT scan.

You may want to ask if you need to hydrate before the CT scan.  This expands your bladder. But, depending on your condition, guidelines about what to eat and drink before your CT scan.  Also check if they are going to use dye to enhance the image of the tumor as some people are allergic to the dye.

In  my case, I had a CT scan first with dye because of gross hematuria and found a 2 cm x 1 cm mass, which was later confirmed as a tumor by cystoscope.    I was told to wait after the CT scan and the radiologist came and showed me the picture of the mass and told me he was concerned that it could be tumor.

At that time, I was not requested to hydrate.     Also, I am going to have a CT scan for my kidneys soon.  For this, I have been  told to drink 5 glasses of water the day before and on the day of the CT scan.

best luck with the CT scan
