    Hi ;

I found this interesting. I looked on BC Government website for getting a vaccine and I read that on the list of eligibility for an earlier  vaccine would be people with cancer getting immunotherapy. I called my urologist and he said no he didn’t think so even though I mentioned the website. Then my appointment with my family doctor came up yesterday ( I made the appointment about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago ) and she knew I was calling about the vaccine and she apologized saying they were so busy they couldn’t look through all  patient files to put in a letter of invitation as required to get a booking and she could do it now.

However; My age group has also just come up so I’m in anyway for next week for the Phizer or the Moderna whichever one they have in stock.

I can taste freedom. It’s a start! Yahoo!

All the best to everyone and keep staying safe!

    Cheers- Tana

    Hi Tina.

I was trying to find out if I could get a shot early in Ontario, do to the Bladder cancer thing, but it turns out that they started to take people with health conditions at the same time my wife and I became eligible anyway.   I have had no contact with my GP so I don’t know if they could have given me a shot earlier, but I doubt it.

My wife and I received the Moderna shot and we are not do for our second shot until July. We are starting to hear about Moderna supply problems and now are worried about getting our second shot in a  timely manner.

It is liberating to get that first shot into you and after two weeks when it is at full strength you start to feel invincible. That is when you need to be careful. You can still get it and infect others, you just won’t get as sick. Like the flu. shot.

We got our shots early by two weeks as health care workers became eligible to get vaccinated. My wife is an RPN and works at a funeral home part time and I am a PSW and still have a few private clients that I see.

I am hoping that getting everyone vaccinated will eventually reduce the number of people that are sick in the Hospital in Ontario. The 3rd wave is far worse that the first 2 combined. It is defiantly affecting cancer treatment time lines and the entire Health care system is badly stressed right now in Ontario

I am not at all happy about the way Ontario has handled this pandemic right from the start, but that is a different topic for a different day.

    Stay safe Ted.

    Hi Tana,
I received my invitation letter from the BC Government, signed by Dr. Bonnie Henry on March 30th, managed to get an appointment by April 3rd. I was thrilled. I don’t know who or how I was recommended, but perhaps the BCG prescription which Health BC has access to.

I noticed that it was on the website as well. I too had been going on frequently to see about vaccine access. I managed to alert my stepmother (81) and my husband (73) when their access days arrived.   I wondered what would come first my age group (66) or the CEV. As I had TURBT surgery booked for April 13th I really wanted to get my first vaccine beforehand.

Congratulations on your first vaccine dose. It is such a feeling of relief isn’t it.

    Hi tana

Oh the feeling you get after getting the shot.  I was extremely fortunate, I got mine in the 2nd week of April, I happened to go to our local Shoppers Drug Mart to inquire as to how I can put myself on a list.  I noticed a bunch of people standing around with clipboards in the hands.  The receptionist said I can have a shot RIGHT NOW , just fill out the sheet.  What the Heck SURE . Long story short I got my AstraZee  shot  and the moment I got it I said  I just won the lottery.   It was such a relief .  Now I’m waiting for #2  but they said that may take 12 weeks ot get but I’m not concerned as I was told the AstraZee gets stronger as time passes .  Enjoy your freedom Tana   but always keep your guard up.

Hello Edwin,  you are absolutely right about how our province has handled/MIS HANDLED this pandemic from the start.   It was mishandled from the get-go   the Premiere can show his fake tears and all ,but when it came time to do something about it, he sat on his hands and made excuses and  simply blamed others and did nothing.

The mistreatment of the health care workers and those involved in healthcare is nothing short of criminal.  Don;t get me going on the Long Term Care situation I could go on for hours ranting.  Good luck to you and glad you got your shot.
