ParticipantAs I posted earlier we are doing major renos in our house. Some stuff we are doing ourselves and some we are getting help with. My dear hubby decided to install our new lights downstairs himself instead of waiting for his brother to come and do it. Well, since he and electrical stuff don’t see eye to eye you guessed it. He messed up something and now we have no electric light in the main area of the family room and the downstairs bathroom. My bro-in-law came to see what damage my hub did but couldn’t figure it out either. So now we have to hire an electrician to sort things out. Now it will be extra $$ ! I told my hubby I will do the electrocuting if he touches wires or switches again!! (Only kidding – but an expensive lesson learned!)

ParticipantSounds like a typical man thing to me. “I can do this, who needs my brother?” heehee

ParticipantI assume you turned each breaker on and off and then shut the main power down and then turned it back on. And I assume you know you may have more than one breaker panel. And I assume you know that there are primary heavy overload fuses that most people don;t know they have. And I assume you know that you may have jarred loose one of the connectors that tie more than one wire together (that’s likely what it is. Just a matter of checking each one to see if all the wires are tight. I also assume that you have no tester to check that stuff before messing with the lines. No? I didn’t think so. To make you feel better, he is one in millions who at one time or another have done this. So have I actually. And if he had been successful would you have congratulated him? Noooo. We only the the s beat out of us when something goes wrong. Life is so unfair. It’s a right of passage. My congrats to your husband! It’s like getting circumcised. You only have to do it once. So when is he having the coming of age party. I want to be there. For guys only of course. See the problem is that a guy will at least try. Women are weenies and won’t even give it a try!!!!!! So how much trouble am I in?

ParticipantSeriously, we lucked out and discovered a new neighbour is a bonafide electrician and he came over and fixed our lights in about 5 minutes flat and didn’t charge us a dime even though we offered payment. He has agreed to help us on our other electrical needs for our renos.
Kiowa! You are in big trouble!! Women are not weenies!! In our house I do most of the repair work although not electrical. I paint, fix walls, doors, do all the financial, shopping, laundry, gardening except mowing the lawn, household organization, and do at least 90% of the so called heavy lifting (major cleaning) and in our house that is majorly major. I’m sure that Lizzie will agree with me.
Although I will be fair about my hubby. Even though he goofs up electrical he does do a fair plumbing job and has self taught himself some repair stuff and despite the electrical mishap can splice wires real well. Not to mention he does work hard and long at his job and is a really good provider. I’m just glad he didn’t get hurt.

ParticipantOh about circumcision, I think any man who has done it will agree that once is enough. My hubby included. He had to do it years ago due to “problems” and even though he was well anesitized he was really sore afterwards. I won’t repeat what he said. I’d get kicked off this site.
He did joke about it prior to surgery with the nurses. There was a lady named Lorena Bobbit who was in the news for slicing off her hubby’s penis because he supposedly cheated on her. My hubby’s joke to the nurses was that he hoped that Lorena was not in the OR as he wanted to wake up with his “parts” intact just minus the foreskin. Staff cracked up over that one.
I don’t think that is one task you would want to do yourself even if you knew how.
