Went today for my 6 month check-up and they found a small tumor about the size of half the top of a pencil eraser. Hopefully they are going to scrape in 2-3 weeks and do a bout of chemo when I am in the O.R. Feeling so disappointed but my hubby says it is a good sign that there was only one and after the chemo that should take care of the problem. True? Also I had a fairly large tumor button-invasive so more of a chance of reoccurance? Also is there a good chance this next one will follow the same non -invasive? I did the walk yesterday in Hamiliton and feeling good about meeting every one but now I got the anxiety and fear again. My doc said that I should look at it as a nuisance but need to be on top of it.
I spoke with one of our urologists at the walk yesterday. He also said that reoccurrences were nuisances and we had to keep on them. The best part is that you caught it early. I am so glad that it is small and they it is not muscle invasive.
Recurrences of non muscle invasive bladder cancer is very common. Good sign that there is only 1 and is very small.
I had 2 recurrences and both times the tumor was small and low grade. After the 2nd recurrence the doc did instill mitomycin C for 1 hour after the Turbt. Have not had a recurrence since and that was Nov 10, 2007.
You will be just fine, so try not to worry.

JackIt was so nice to finally put a face to the name at the walk yesterday. I am so glad you came! I know that you are disappointed by the reocurrance, but think of it this way…you have a good medical team watching you to make sure they see the “monster” coming and beat the heck out of it. Eventually,the “monster” will not return. Stay positive. Good luck with the scraping.
