I fought and hoped for 9 years and now the RC is scheduled. May 25th and we’re ready. All the best to everyone having things this month. See you on the other side, in my new normal.

Hi there Rhonda Lee, thanks for the best wishes and the hug. Much appreciated. Also, I will check out the download to prepare for the RC as I sure can use some information on what to expect. The Patient Stories will be interesting to read as well because these are people who have been there. I will post when I have more information. I’m seeing my urologist on May 28th and on the 21st, I’m having a lung capacity assessment and seeing a respirologist.

Sue, you put up a good fight for 9 long years. Good luck with it and since we’ll be fairly close in our experience, we can compare notes!

Good luck to everyone having stuff done this month.

SueG: may your surgery and recovery be uneventful – meaning may all go well and without incident. You will be in my thoughts.

Last Friday, I had to have the Nephrostomy tube changed due to a blockage that was also causing the kidney infection. I wish they would just take it out already, as we already know that the Neo is working just fine. I see my Uro for a follow-up tomorrow.
I saw the medical Oncologist at the cancer centre today. She basically told me a similar story as the radiation oncologist; based on existing studies, there is neither a negative nor a positive outcome with the use of either radiation or chemo to rid me of the cancer that “may” have escaped pre RC surgery. Also, the chemo drug Cisplatin would put me into kidney failure and as I only have one, that is not advisable. Then if cancer does show up elsewhere in my body, there is another chemo drug, Carboplatin, that she said is not as damaging. So, now the plan is to follow a 3 month recall plan which includes a chest x-ray and blood work.
I am being scheduled for a post operative CT scan in 2 weeks. For that I must take a prep med the day before, as apparently the dye for the CT is also damaging to my kidney.
So for now, we continue with the belief that I don’t have cancer….

I wish everyone well with any upcoming tests/or surgeries XX
