    Hi Everyone;

May is coming past the halfway mark. I’ve posted a bit early since I have a bit of a crazy schedule for the next two weeks. Nothing for me other than a dental cleaning. All the best as usual to those who have stuff this coming month. May we hear of good results and a lot of all clears.

As I mentioned in my intro, I have my first TURB on Friday the 12th. I had a cysto exam today that showed a single tumour. Thanks

Hi everyone,it’s been a while since I posted. It’s been 2 moths and 10 days since my RC/Neo surgery and I feel great!
So far this month I’ve had an ultrasound to rule out an incisional hernia, still waiting for results. I saw my oncologist yesterday and got the good news that the CT was all clear! What a relief!
I still have a chest x-Ray to get in 2 weeks. I’m confident that it too will be clear.
I almost forgot, I had a cysto, that was also clear AND no more Nephrostomy tube!!

I’m going for a physio consult tomorrow for pelvic floor rehabilitation. God I hope it works! The Neo bladder is draining great….all of the time! So done with the incontinence already!!!!
Don’t get me wrong, I am extremely thankful that I was given a new “bladder” and had the cancerous one removed and I’m alive and for now am cancer free.
Being completely honest however, Having to wear a diaper 24/7 is depressing.
So frustrated by the fact that although I’m completely pain free and feeling healthy, it’s been a strain on my relationship. Intimacy, out the window….

Adult diapers are sexy…said no one EVER!

Best Wishes to John and all others this month. It must be quiet since there are few posts so far. We’ll take that as good news.

    Hi Rhonda-Lee

Congrats on the great recovery. Yes, its sucks to wear diapers. Hopefully you’ll be able to get away with just a Poise or TENA pad in the future? I wear them and they’re not bad.

As for the intimate side of things, I think it will take time (you’re still healing) and I suggest talking to your medical team about what to do or who to talk to about this. Many cancer centres have professionals that deal with this area of things. Keep up the good work and keep us in the loop with your recovery. (((((HUGS)))))

I had my TURBT yesterday late afternoon. It went quite well. The surgery was only about 40 minutes and the recovery was quick. I was sent home this morning. I had excellent care at Rockyview General in Calgary. I will have a follow up with my urologist to get the results and next steps. Another step in my journey.

    Hi John
Glad to hear the Turbt went well. Once you know the stage and grade of the tumor, your Uro should explain the next steps. I recommend you get a copy of your pathology report from your Uro.
    All the best,
    Jack

    Hi John,

Glad to hear the TURBT went well…best wishes for most favourable results. Keep us in the loop.

I always found having a second person (my spouse in my case) attend the follow-up with the URO was worthwhile…if you are like me, trying to remember what was said is always a challenge especially your first follow-up. Suggest too that you write down any questions you might have and take them with you …the pen and paper it will also serve as a means to jot down things said, to help remove any uncertainty of what was said when you get back home. These are just little things that help me.

    Best wishes,

    Rick

I went to Rockyview in Calgary for a problem I had with my left tube to my new stoma, kept collapsing, so they installed a stent, that did not work. Since I was there down from Yellowknife doctor decided to check out any scar issues from bladder removal in 2013. Did a scope & found cancer tumor there, so he decided to check my left kidney since tube was still sticking in there, found cancer there too. Planned for August to have tumor removed & left kidney along with tube to stoma cut out. If when they cut me open they find cancer on outside of organs doctor said they will sew me back up not do any removals. They will then try chemotherapy, but that will not cure just extend life & give a quality of life. Not sure if I will do chemo if that happens, and I tend to think it will. Anyone else in this position? Any advise or comments. My wife says she will back me up whatever I decide, she understands I may not want to get sick from chemo, because that can kill me too.

Sorry to hear about the recurrence and particularly about the new location. You have a plan which I admire… I can only say take one step at a time and when you reach it you will be in a better position to make the next one. Above all, and I know this be must very difficult, look for the positives…having to go to Rockyview and having a doctor who went the extra step is a god-sent as you do have a chance of catching this. Each day is precious, so extending life to be with family would be wonderful.

I have not had to have chemo or lose an organ, saying as I keep my fingers crossed, so I cannot imagine what you must be going through. My best advice as mentioned above, is to look for the positives and focus on beating the odds.

Best wishes, thoughts and prayers coming your way…may God Bless.

    Rick
