Hi again all!!
I’m a little early posting this as I will be going on vacation soon so I wanted to make sure that this was up. Summer is here and let’s enjoy the nice weather while it lasts. El Nino is supposed to be ending and La Nina is taking over. In Calgary that usually means a cold winter. That will be a shock after 2 very mild ones. As we hope and pray for good weather let’s keep the prayers and positive thoughts going for those doing stuff this month. All the best to everyone. Nothing for me except a follow up eye exam.

July 6, 2016 at 3:53 pm #20737bluebillParticipantHello all,
Had my cysto today. Didn’t get an all clear. They took another biopsy of the same area and will do the pathology and cytology. Urologist says it doesn’t look like anything but just wants to confirm.
Good look to all who have procedures in July.

Even though the urologist said it doesn’t appear to be anything, its’ still an uneasy feeling just the same. Hopefully, it will come back okay and you can move on till next time. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

Sorry to hear about the cysto outcome. As Lorraine said, best to check even if it doesn’t look like much. You seem to be in good hands with your Uro as checking is always best.
Wishing you the very best outcome…stay strong and above all, stay positive…
God Bless.

July 13, 2016 at 10:33 pm #20761Paul DParticipantHi everybody I have started my six weeks of BCG on the 12-7-2016 so Tuesdays will be spent at my local Cancer Care clinic, I posted on another page how last Tuesday went and hope they all go that way. My nurse was the best and very understanding, it all took about three and a half hours so my iPod & a good book did me well. My book gave the nurse a bit of an idea of what my sense of humour is like “22 Dead Little Bodies” by Stuart MacBride which is a very funny black comedy story form Scotland. Best of luck to every one having treatment this month and my year is planned with cystoscopies and maintenance treatment so I will keep you all up to date on the other pages of BCC forum how I go.
Love to all,
PaulJuly 15, 2016 at 2:56 pm #20762marysueParticipantBest of luck Paul. Let us know how it goes. As our past president Jack Moon often says BCG = Bladder Cancer Gone (((((HUGS)))))
July 20, 2016 at 3:52 pm #20781DDepParticipantWell …. I had my 3 month Cysto today (2016-07-20).
Many Thanks to all the well wishers and Marie1 in particular, for the prayers.
I am one year cancer free.
My third, true “all clear”. In fact, my Uro said the bladder looks the best he has seen it. The Resection site looked excellent (I even noticed the difference).
So, now his thoughts are: One more 3 month Cysto – If the bladder looks as good as it was today, then he thinks I will go on 6 month Cysto intervals for 2 years and then yearly thereafter. We did discuss the “normal” 3 month schedule for 2-3 years and then the 6 month (I was trying to be insistent on the follow-up schedule) but he felt that in my case it may not be necessary. I will still be treated with BCG in accordance with SWOG protocol. All l can say is WOW. What a head spin. One year ago, the Uro was talking about possible T2 and RC. Today, I am possibly looking at a reduced Cysto interval schedule.
Feeling pretty good.
God Bless and prayers to all on this BC journey.

MarieJuly 26, 2016 at 8:47 am #20789Paul DParticipantHi every one and hope you are doing well in your treatments, had my 3rd BCG treatment this morning and it all went well apart from the nurses forgetting about me after 2+ hours. To be fair I had fallen asleep but you know what it’s like when you wake up I was “busting.” I rang the bell and the cavalry came running and after my obligatory glass of water ten minutes later the drain tap was turned much to my utter relief “aaahhhhhh”. Apart from a big head-ache and feeling very tired I am doing ok, no coffee this week.Looking forward to a good nights sleep and no chaplain talk this week she got caught up with some one else more needing.
Love and best wishes to all,
PaulJuly 27, 2016 at 4:00 pm #20790sheltiesParticipantHi Paul, glad to hear that your 3rd BCG treatment went well. You’re half way there?? So you stay at the hospital until after the two hours when you can go to the washroom. Perhaps because you live a distance from the hospital? In any case, I had to chuckle when I read that you fell asleep. There is no way I could fall asleep after an injection of BCG. LOL Also good to hear that overall, you are doing okay with the treatments. Hope all goes well for the remainder.
Take care.
LorraineJuly 27, 2016 at 9:30 pm #20795Paul DParticipantThanks Lorraine and I only live 5 mins drive from the hospital, I read about a lot of BCG cases in this forum and am a little puzzled as you all say you void the BCG when you get home after 2hrs? The procedure in Hervey Bay Cancer Care Centre which is a brand new facility is as follows, prep for BCG takes about 15 mins blood pressure, temp, weight and the catheter of course. All carried out in a room off the cancer care ward and on the bed, I then stay in the bed for the 2 hrs (doing my turns every 15 min) and have a glass of water 10 mins before the 2 hrs are up they then drain the bladder into the catheter bag which goes into the cystology waste bin with all the equipment used in the procedure to be burnt at very high temp, I then get dressed and after picking up my sample jar for next weeks BCG I am in the car and home. Job done. I think I am more comfortable with this procedure than emptying every thing into the pan at home, the nurses have full control and they know the BCG is in doing the job. What do you think?
Love and best wishes
Paul
p.s I think my “murder” book sent me to sleep.July 27, 2016 at 10:15 pm #20796SJayParticipantHere they send you home (or wherever you are staying) after instilling the BCG. You do all your rolling around there, When the two hours are up, you urinate into the toilet. Then add a cup of bleach and wait 15 minutes. Then flush. They ask you to drink lots afterwards. I think it amounts to the same thing as you are doing.
As an aside, when the nurse was away a Fellow did my BCG. He said walking was as good as laying down and rotating. As long as the bladder is moved into different shapes so that areas that are folded get exposed to the BCG solution then it should work. The bladder isn’t the same as a bottle with air and liquid in it where rotating will wet the different sides of the jar. There is no air in the bladder, but there are folds.
