Hi Everyone:
January seems to have flown by. February is coming fast and with it Groundhog Day and Valentine’s Day. As we know, Groundhog Day is when the groundhog will either see or not see his shadow and may or may not forecast 6 more weeks of winter. Valentine’s Day is for romance. These dates are just two of many special dates on our yearly calendar. We of course, may choose or not choose to celebrate these or any other holidays whether they be religious, secular or community/culturally based. It depends on what has special meaning and tradition for us.
The bladder cancer journey can be a very long, wild and winding road. It definitely feels longer than an additional 6 weeks of winter. I personally celebrate every clear cysto and back when I was doing BCG treatments, I celebrated every week that I got through another one and it was one less to go. I would treat myself with a special food treat or very small gift item to mark the occasion. It bolstered my spirits to get through yet another long week. Even when we have loving spouses, partners, family members and friends that support us we still need the support of others that have been down the road that we are on. So as we go through the calendar year, let us remember that bladder cancer patients will make any day a special day because of all the challenges they must face and try to overcome. Hi MarySue;
I am scheduled for a CT with contrast next week. Had to get a blood test ( that was a first ) as well as the usual three month urine test and six month cystoscopy that my urologist wants to continue ( 10 years?). I hope all is well. My last BCG Oncotice was February 2023 ( I did three years of it) to clear the NMIBC ta high grade .
