    Hello Everyone:

I hope that all of you are having a good summer.  I know that down east is experiencing some serious heat and storms.  We’ve had some in the west too.  My garden is going gangbusters so I’m hoping for a good harvest in the near future.

It seems like a 7th wave of covid may be becoming a thing in Canada.  I hope and pray that it will not be serious and further disrupt our healthcare system.  BC patients have enough to deal with as it is especially after more than 2 years of the pandemic.

I would like to ask as always that we continue to send positive thoughts and prayers to all our brothers and sisters that are dealing with “stuff” this month.  Soldier on everyone.  Please keep us updated with your progress and don’t forget to reach out for support if you need it.  We are here for you.  ((((HUGS))))

    Hi,

I’m 56 and going in for an RC/IC on the 22 of August. I’m working out and trying to get in the best shape physically and mentally for the surgery.  Done all my research and made my decision on diversion so now just the wait. Have my pre-admission clinic this Friday so i’m hoping to learn a lot more. After all is said and done i know i’ll have a “New Normal” but I should be disease free and that’s what we are all hoping for.

All the very best of luck on your surgery Mike, a little over a year ago I was in your situation.

The surgery is not easy by any stretch of the imagination.  I had a second opinion and the DR. I  wasn’t kidding.  I got through it as many of us had and now I feel like I’m almost back to normal, well, with a very adjustments.  One thing I did not do but should have,  I only had a 3 week notice from decision to my 2nd opinion then to having the surgery, but I wish I had done more to strengthen my core and AB muscles, I did not have the robotic surgery and they had to cut my abdomen a fair way down, recovery (especially) my abs was very difficult, so if you can, work on those for sure.

Again, good luck to you Mike.

    Hi Mike,

Thank you for posting your situation in the Forum.  I personally have not undergone the surgery of having my bladder replaced, but I am glad that lefmike responded and shared his experience.

Please keep us posted on your situation.  I am sending you good positive thoughts and trust all will go well.  Out of curiosity and if you don’t mind my asking, which diversion did you settle on?

    My best,
