    Hi again everyone!

The time just keeps on flying by. Now that we’ve had the visit from the Easter bunny and I’ve gained 5lbs just looking at chocolate Easter eggs…time to look forward to spring ( and lose weight gardening) and let’s have positive thoughts and prayers for those doing “stuff” this month. All the best to everyone. ((((HUGS)))))

3 month checkup on April 28th. First since my January radical cystectomy. Been back at work now for over a month on light duty. Going to start slowly increasing lifting from 10# to 20#.

Finished neoadjuvant chemo. RC scheduled for Apr 13. Apprehensive, but I’ve got a good surgeon, I’m in good shape and have lots of support. Getting all my heavy lifting chores done beforehand. I had no idea that you could gain weight on chemo, but apparently one of the anti-nausea drugs does things to your appetite.

Hi Marie, great news to hear that you got an all clear! Sure gives you a lift doesn’t it? I got my first all clear in Feb. and I’m still over the moon on it. At least for bladder cancer things are looking up. However, I have other cancers, (unrelated) that are not doing so good, but I’ve learned to appreciate small miracles. For you having two all clear results in a row is great. Best of luck onward.

S.J. all the best on your surgery coming up on the 13th. Sounds like you have confidence in your surgeon and that is very reassuring when facing any surgery, so here’s to you. Let us know how it goes as soon as you’re able.

Gerry, seems like you’re gradually bouncing back after your surgery, but don’t rush that heavy lifting until you get clearance from you surgeon. After all that, you sure don’t want to mess things up at this point. Glad to hear you’re doing well though. Take care.

Hi, Sjay Same plan..Got my rock garden in before surgery…. also had no idea that I’d grow a bit more hair while on chemo! … also anti nausea meds (Emend) caused constipation for me. My RC went well… First couple of days was a bit hard to roll out of bed, but after that got better every day. It helped to get up and walk around. Surprising how quickly the body heals itself! I had an ileal conduit so the only challenging part for me is working with suppliers samples to find out which product lasts the longest.

Gerry W … Yeh, happy my tulips were coming out as well. They were out about 5-7cm (2-3 inches). BUT, it is snowing now. In years past, it may not have wiped things out. Crossing my fingers…

Anyway, had my 9 month (more or less) cysto today.
The Urologist looked at, and drew attention to the intial resection site to which he added, “Typical scaring” Not as smooth as the rest of my bladder wall in appearance (No Kidding, I had 3 TURBTs in the same spot).
He spent some time looking very closely everywhere. He noted some small red spots all around my bladder wall. Doctor did a close-up of one and said, “See, … those spots are ??Skiddle-Bongers??” (To me it sounded like a term from the turbo-encabulator) “It is a result of the BCG – You just had BCG 3 weeks ago?”.
To which I responded, “Oh, that is interesting and yes, 16th of March”.
While continuing to look around in detail He said, “Your bladder looks very good … It is the best so far !”
Which got me thinking “Hey, I just hit another jackpot. Now get that cystoscope out of me so that I can dance a jig !”
Just before he extracted the Cystoscope he said, “Hold on, want to look back at your Urethra”. Where upon he twisted things around. Now I know why my urethra hurts everytime post cystoscopy.
With that, subject to routine cytology (he does it everytime) – the exam ended.
We had a good talk, summarizing what we have been through and talking about the next steps. We exchanged notes. Notwithstanding that BCG maintenance typically is 1 year for Intermediate Risk patients (full dose at 3, 6 and 12 month) my BCG maintenance is to be at least 2 years and maybe 3 years. However, depending on how it goes, he said we might skip year 3. – All fine with me.
Next Cysto in 3 months and BCG in 4 months (both more/less).

Anyway, another (2nd) true “all-clear”. So, no recurrences since my first TURBT July 22, 2015. Feel pretty good about that.

    God Bless

So nice to hear all the “all clears”…congrats to all. I have my follow up appt. April 27th after my turbt in March. This turbt knocked me for a bit of a loop this time. Two weeks out & still have some considerable pain & extremely tired. Hoping next week sees me in better shape as I feel like I’m tied to the water bottle making sure I have enough liquids flowing through this tired body of mine. Also hoping but definitely not looking forward to perhaps getting referred for bcg this time to reduce my occurrences as the bcg shortage seems to be over now. Even though I know how important cystoscopies are I’ve definitely come to dread going for them as it seems there’s always new tumors. I think in the last 5 1/2 yrs. I’ve only had 2 all clears..gets a girl down for sure. Wishing everyone that has appointments this month all the best.

I do hope that your turbt in March is the very last one and you will receive the bcg treatments. Only all clears to follow.
    Best always

Lorraine I was thrilled to read about your all clear. Let’s hope your other cancers have better results in the future.
    Hope I didn’t miss anyone.
