    Hello Marc

Yep, that is pretty much the big one that catches people’s attention and sends them to the doctor.

As you are having surgery, probably the best thing is to be patient about the blood. I suggest you try a little less activity to keep from bleeding. It is probably just healthier for you.

Probably a vast majority of people with BC have experienced blood in the urine. It is just part of life with BC.

If you are currently spending a lot of time stressed and hanging around the rafters, quit it. It takes way too much time, energy and resources to hang around up there and you will get way too many bumps and slivers.

My best advice: take a deep breath or two or three or four or however many it takes; hug those you love; cry as needed; spend time with those you care about; find something to laugh about; then you will start to heal.

    Take care
    Cheryl

    Hi cheryl9

It’s reassuring to know. Yes I’m already practicing deep breathing to accept those new symptoms that I have face.

    Thank you for your answer

    Hi Marc:

It was a lot of blood at once that sent me running to the doc. The first time it happened I had just come home from shopping one afternoon, not having done anything too strenuous other than a fair bit of walking and went upstairs to the bathroom and boom! I can tell you that it scared the living daylights out of me. I had blood in my urine off and on until the surgery and for a short time after.

Cheryl is right. Just take it easy and don’t do stuff that sets it off. It is the tumours that are bleeding out. Why they do that I’m not sure. Post surgery, lots of rest, short walks as you are able and lots of water will help heal you.

That was also how I knew I had a recurrence in 2010 albeit I didn’t pass as much blood with there only being one tumour instead of several. I just sat on the toilet one evening and got up to flush and lo and behold a little bit of blood and a clot were swirling around in the water. I won’t repeat here what I said when I saw that. The only good thing about that was that it happened shortly before I was due to go in for a cysto check and was able to report it to my uro.

The blood in the urine is a bit unnerving to say the least. But when I saw it for the second time as mentioned I knew what it was and after I got over the shock I started a mindset of talking to the tumour telling it its days were numbered etc. and that I was defeating it not the cancer defeating me. It may sound crazy but for me it worked giving me the courage to “not swing from the rafters” as Cheryl always says.

    You will defeat this….(((((HUGS)))))

That confirm what I’m going thru and there’s some comfort to read about It.

I have a question, being a frenchman and I also did my homework on internet before asking. What does the expression “not swing from the rafters” means? Just curious!

    Thanks you for your answer

    Hi Marc:so

LOL!!! I’m quoting Cheryl’s favourite expression here. It means going crazy, so “don’t swing from the rafters” means don’t go crazy and stress out. Cheryl may have another translation.

I wish I could speak French as well as you do English. ((((HUGS)))))

    Hello Marc R and marysue

Swinging from the rafters: being so stressed out you are no longer on terra firma. Since we spend most of our time in buildings, that means we will be floating about amongst the rafters and swinging from them in our desperation to get to a higher level of stress.

    Take care
    Cheryl

    Salut Marc,
