    Hi Barb

Sorry you have been diagnosed with bladder cancer. We were all confused when we were first diagnosed. Scrapes are considered surgery if you had tumors removed by your Urologist.
I believe you were beginning BCG treatments last year, and if the cancer has not recurred then the treatments are successful so far. I have been cancer free now 10 years after BCG treatments.
I recommend you read this booklet from Bladder Cancer Canada. For Patients With Nonmuscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer (EN)
    https://bladdercancercanada.org/en/canadian-patient-guidebooks/

After you have read the booklet come back with further questions.

    All the best,
    Jack

    Hi Barb:

As Jack mentioned, if you’ve had no recurrence of tumours it most likely means that the BCG has worked for you. I had 21 BCG treatments over a 3 year period and have been cancer free since 2010.

I wish you the best and that you remain cancer free. Just remember to have regular follow up cystos so if it does by chance recur it will be caught early. My first uro told me that if you go more than 2 years cancer free the chance of recurrence drops significantly.

When I had my first set of 6 BCG treatments in 2008 after my first TURBT, I was cancer free for nearly 2 years and naturally was shaken when a new tumour was discovered at a cysto check in 2010. However later on, I realized that in the grand scheme of things it was a very small recurrence and the extra BCG did the trick. I now only need annual cysto checks which even though my uro said I can discontinue after 10 years clear, I plan to continue just so I have that piece of mind and safety net. ((((HUGS))))
