My husband, Malcolm, had his neobladder surgery May, 2011. It was followed by a course of chemotherapy. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

Kory, this is very good news. I can imagine that the days ahead of the scheduled surgery will not be easy on your husband.

With continued prayers from many on this forum I hope this will give Arn and yourself the strength you need.

    God Bless

Kory, I recommend you take up Ieva’s offer. She has spoken to many patient’s caregiver and really helped them a lot.
    All the best,
    Jack

Thank you leva – I definitely will have questions for you. I need your help! Happy to see that Malcolm has done well with the Neobladder since 2011.

Thank you Marie 1 – prayers are always good, thank you for your caring words. Definitely we will need strength.

Thank you Jack! I will be in touch with leva a lot I think. As a caregiver my stress is different from Arn’s. I feel so much better now that I have someone to turn to that understands what I am going through.

Thank you for your kind support,

    Arn & Kory

Best wishes for Arn’s surgery and yes, I second or third vouch for Ieva. She’s been a rock for us here at Bladder Cancer Canada and has a wealth of information I’m sure that will be helpful for you.

Positive thoughts and prayers for September 1st! ((((((BIGHUGS)))))

Thank you Marysue ! It means a lot to get encouragement. Even though Arn is a quiet introverted sort of person, I tell him there are people praying for him & truly concerned that he has a successful outcome. He looks surprised and says “really?” Yes, really. Then he smiles because others care, and he wasn’t expecting that.

    love Arn

    Hello Arn & Kory,

I’m sure there are lots of anxious moments that come and go throughout the day. I always found talking about my situation with someone close helps a real lot. My wife was always there for me when I had those doubtful moments.

Arn you have a champion supporter in Kory…together you will find the strength to tackle all challenges you face and will soon be looking back on this as the time when you started a journey to a new normal life that has all the same material things as you have now. Think beyond Sept 1st to being with family and friends for many, many years to come. The surgery and neobladder is the means to reach those goals.

God bless you both…prayers and thoughts…

    Rick

Rick, thank you so much – I was truly touched by your words… Arn doesn’t seem to want to talk much about the whole thing, which worries me. He knows I will listen if he wants to talk. He is the quiet one. So I talk to his sister Barb; she is really good at putting things in perspective for me. As in “you can’t do it all Kory”. You mean I’m not super human? ha ha. But I want to look after him, help him recover and get well, be his psychologist, nurse, cook & housekeeper … etc. etc. “Kory, you can’t do it all” ! I am fast-forwarding to Sept 1st. I think he will make it through the actual operation. I want them to get his pain under control (lower back & bladder operation). I will help him with the catheter if he wants me to. And just let him recover. Arn is 63, I am 64. We have been together for 24 years, but have known each other for 44 years! We both have a sense of humour which helps. I have decided to “let go and let God”, and just ask for strength. Thank you for listening Rick and continued success in your journey!
