Arn’s bladder
ParticipantHello everyone, haven’t posted for some time but just wanted to give you this positive update. Arn has a Neobladder and has done well over the past year. It was not easy for him, lots to contend with. But he went back to work full time on Feb 20, 2017. The main challenge now is feeling so exhausted. But happy he’s made it this far! Best wishes and outcomes to all …. Kory – Arn’s wife

ParticipantArn and Kory – terrific news! It is a good feeling to celebrate and mark these milestones! It is a lot to contend with isn’t it?!? So congrats to you both on successfully navigating a very stressful and challenging year! I think it takes almost a year to feel that your energy level is back to what it was pre-surgery, so better days are ahead for Arn. The sleeping/waking/voiding/going back to sleep routine takes a bit of time, but once you find a system and schedule that works, it should get better as time goes on. Just had my 4 year neo-anniversary in June. Other than having to self-cath more often than I would like to, life is very, very good, and very, very, normal now. All the best!

ParticipantThank you Gord ! It is a huge operation & recovery challenge for sure – lots of stress, but now just so glad he is cancer free. He has a scan & PSA test coming up in January 2018. Life is pretty normal again for us I am happy to say.
Congratulations to you too Gord – 4 years cancer-free !! Wonderful news to hear life is very very good and very very normal for you now. Thank you for all your encouragement – it meant a lot.
Take care, Arn & Kory

ParticipantHi Jack ! Thank you so much – he and ‘we’ made it through a challenging recovery. We are so grateful for the ongoing help & encouragement from the Bladder Cancer website and members. Bladder cancer patients and survivors are very brave !
I just read about your Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) (along with David Guttman), for creating this amazing bladder cancer website. Congratulations on your most deserving award !
Take care, and thank you, Arn & Kory

ParticipantThank you Marysue ! Yes, it was a journey indeed. Once the good weeks and months started happening, we kind of forgot the first months of surgery and recovery. That was a bonus!
take care, Arn & Kory

ParticipantI too, have found that the “tough stuff” has faded in my memory quite a bit. I try to focus on the lessons learned with this experience which in my mind is the good stuff. Of course, I would have rather not had cancer in the first place but it is what it is.
