    Hi

I’m a few weeks in to the whole business now and doing much better mentally now that I’ve read more and I had a couple of great 1-1 phone calls with survivors who have been down this path a few years ago.  I can’t tell you how settling that was to my panicked mindset.

i had my first chemo session yesterday. I’m feeling surprisingly good right now, with only a big of muscular rumbling in my stomach that feels like nausea (tho the drug I can take as needed seems to work well).

I’m looking for recommendations of apps that can I can use to track my meds, treatments, symptoms, temperature, etc. I guess I could use something like google keep but maybe there’s an app out there that’s a little smarter about the domain of simple health monitoring. I would be sharing the info with my spouse and maybe one other person

I’m not really looking for a blog for friends to follow my quasi-public status updates like CaringBridge.

Any suggestions most welcome. I looked thru the Apple store and on the web a bit, but I figure many readers here might have some experience they might like to share

    Many thanks!

    Hi MikeG,

I personally don’t use one and have never used one since my treatments were very minimal.  I did a search on the internet and found this award winning App.  You’ve likely seen it also, but just in case, here is the link. https://www.cancer.net/navigating-cancer-care/managing-your-care/cancernet-mobile

Wow this is indeed the app I was hoping for (but had not yet found!).  This is the one, supporting the work flows i imagined easily and directly!

I looked at a few other apps but they were expensive and/or not a good fit for the main task of automatically dating log entries

I’m very happy with this and have already started using it to log all of my symptoms and non-scheduled med usage.  It’s a breeze and seems to be free too.

It would be even better if there were some way of setting it up as a cloud service so I could edit the log from my laptop etc, but as a simple, smart standalone phone app, it hits all my checkmarks

thanks very much for the heads up, Nightingale!

    Mike

    Hi MikeG:

A lot of people do have some system of keeping track of appointments, do journaling etc. but you are the first that I’ve met that has gone high tech.  Kudos to you for doing that. Thanks to Nightingale for the link.  I wasn’t too computer literate when my journey with BC began in 2008.  I’ve learned a lot since but I’m still figuring out apps.

I was old school using a notebook from the dollar store.  I did divide it into sections for appointments, treatments, journal entries etc.  When I was journaling during my treatments, I found it helpful to keep track of how I was feeling and what was happening in my life at the time. It also helped me work through a lot of things and was one of the tools that helped me get into a better place.  I still have the book and plan to keep it for reference if needed.

Good luck with the app.  Maybe update us on how it is working for you?  It may be helpful for others looking for something like this.  Best Wishes going forward.  (((HUGS))))

I thought I’d check in with an update.  I had chemo in the fall and neobladder surgery in December.  Tho I’ve had some ups and downs, I started going back into the office a month ago.

WRT to this app, I’m not currently on any meds that need to be logged.  However, I have been using the app to track my bathroom visits.  I entered “bathroom #1” and “bathroom #2” as pretend “medicines”, and now it’s really, really easy to track how often I go.  It’s about three button clicks and no text entry each time.

I high recommend this app if you’re trying to keep a timed log of your bathroom visits.  It’s 100% free, super simple to use, and you can optionally email yourself (or your partner or doctor) a weekly log report if you like.

    Hi MikeG,

That is awesome!…and highly creative!  Thank you so much for sharing your idea in how you can keep track of not just meds, but bathroom visits.  Fantastic!  I am especially glad to hear that you have gotten past the surgery and on the road to leading as normal a life as possible.  Perhaps you can join my Support Group in August to demonstrate how the App works.  Let me know.

    Hi again Nightingale,

I’d be happy to give a demo, tho I’m not sure about the date, as I may try to go on vacation in August.
