Many cancer patients survive treatment only to have a recurrence within a few years. Recurrences and tumor spreading are likely due to cancer stem cells that can be tough to kill with conventional cancer drugs. But now researchers have designed nanoparticles that specifically target these hardy cells to deliver a drug. The nanoparticle treatment worked far better than the drug alone in mice.

Thanks for posting that link Ed, its’ really interesting and the more I learn about this disease, the more I understand how difficult it is to get a full picture of what’s going on with it. No wonder its’ so hard to treat/cure because there are so many variables and the more they learn, the more there is to learn. The battle goes on though and someday, maybe not in my lifetime, a cure will be found so that more people survive. I look forward to reading the articles you manage to find though, so keep posting them.

I, too am interested in CSC’s ever since I heard thst they are resistent to chemotherapy. Fortunately, I am told, they are only a small percentage of BC tumor cells. I wonder how soon this treatment might be available.

The more treatment options, the better chances for patients to be cured not just put in remission. Thanks for sharing this.
