Good morning. I was speaking with Bladder Cancer Canada “Co-Founder” Jack Moon last week advising him that I had been for a recent cystoscopy. My recent checkup resulted in the doctor advising “all clear, see you in a year”.
I had my surgery to remove two tumours in March of 2014 (high-grade non-muscle invasive), followed by 18 BCG treatments. I was then seen every three months. This was extended to six-month visits, with one return to three months (after a small pin head “something” was seen). Upon return, I was all clear for six months and now all clear for a year.
After speaking with Jack, I thought it was important to post this good news. I have followed the advice of my medical team at Sunnybrook Health Sciences with exact attention and follow up.
The other check up in a year will be an ultrasound, rather than CT scan, which is also an indicator that my recovery is headed in the right direction.
Cheers.

June 6, 2018 at 11:40 pm #31751StarParticipantCongratulations! I was diagnosed May 2015 and had day surgery to remove the tumour, and then went on a similar protocol as you FergDevins. I am now being tested annually. I would like to say that I have noticed something though, that I would like to put out there (or here, I should say :-)). Over the past year or so, I became irritable with anxiety. Upon digging deep to figure out what the issue may be, aside from a workplace that could be more transparent and more positive, I found that I did not really deal with my diagnosis. Everything had happened so quickly, the news was great right afterwards, so off I went! I believe the “shell-shock” was not fully processed and thus it came up in a different form down the road. I am still dealing with some aspects of it, but I have made a lot of progress in moving forward. Has anyone else had an issue similar to this? Thanks.
Many blessings...

I received my all clear via cysto on June 19th…we also do a cytology which I have not heard back on however my URO says he expects it will be ok. This was my first annual follow-up.
Star, I did not experience the delayed shock but I do get the reminder which seems to come from out of no where that there is the possibility of recurrence and it gets me down at times. I remind myself how fortunate I am to be 5 yrs cancer free and try not to think about it too much. I do get a bit tensed though leading up to each examination/cysto…I believe that’s normal.
God Bless & Have a Great Summer everyone!
