Hi everyone it’s been awhile since I posted but went yesterday for my scope and all was good. He said I had a 50-75% chance of keeping my bladder now as I have been 21 months cancer free. Love those two words…..cancer free. Every time I go to my family Dr. she does a urine test with the stick and it always has blood in it. Anyone else have this problem? Was wondering after all the scopes and 21 BCG treatments if this has something to do with it. My urologist did not seem to be concerned. Doing the Happy Dance and want to keep dancing. Hoping the very best to others going for tests coming up.

Hi Lynda; Welcome back and congrats on the all clear.

It is normal to have some residual or microscopic blood in the urine after TURBTS, BCGs and even a scope exam. I too, had 21 BCGs and did have some microscopic blood for a while. I was told it was due to inflammation of the bladder lining and urethra. I’ve been clear of blood for a long time now. If it is bothering you I suggest that you discuss with your uro about having a backup urine test to compare to your family doc’s and if he isn’t concerned about the blood still ask for an explanation to put your mind at rest. There may be a valid reason for it in your case but only your doc will be able to tell for sure. Let us know how it goes.
