Hello all,
I’ve been a little delinquent in letting you all know about my first 3 month check up. Life has been extremely hectic as of lately, especially at the office, so please bare with me.
I’m sure you’ve all heard this before, but a week before my follow up, my mind was racing! Those “what if” and “then what” moments running around like a pair of sugar pumped 2 year old’s.
Then came Thursday (Oct 10th)
Mandy (my little lady) and I ventured up to Sunnybrook to see Dr. Kodama. The wait in the waiting room was extremely fast, but the wait in the examination room was an ice age. Sitting there, legs to the sky, I was eager to get some news. Having gone through this once before, I was strangely calm, knowing it isn’t painful or horrible at all just oddly uncomfortable.
Fast forwarding for a moment, Doc K walked in and I was all set to get this show on the road. He conducted his guided tour of my innards with the same calming voice as an airline pilot. Then came the moment of truth. He pointed out where the tumor had been and said “There is the scar”…..”where?”……”There!!”…..”I don’t see anything?”… “EXACTLY!”
In his office later on he asked if I wanted my next appointment to be 3 or 6 months from the day? I opted for the 3 months just to lean on the cautious side.
Sending warm hugs and positivity to all of you out there!

October 18, 2013 at 10:53 pm #16426auntybevyParticipantThat is wonderful news. I agree with Greg that having your cysto in three months is the right choice.

Wishing you the very best and when “you” are ready then move to 6 months, etc.
Cheers and Be Well !!!

I know Dr. Kodama, when I was first admitted to the ER at Sunnybrook, he was the staff Urologist that took care of me (along with some excellent residents). He performed my initial cysto and my first TURBT.
I can attest that the staff at Sunnybrooks Urology Dept., from the docs, nurses, residents all the way to the secretaries, are all excellent, professional, caring people. I have always been treated with compassion and care each time I have been.
I know that I may be somewhat biased being that I also work at Sunnybrook, but in many instances the staff are not aware that I have a profession connection to Sunnybrook and still treat me with the utmost care.In my opinion, you are in the hands of one of the best teams out there. With their help, lets hope that you are able to always remain cancer free.
