i had a recheck and it was wild. at another facility n the area where i could see the inside of my bladder. all wrinkly and in full colour. they found absolutely nothing whatsoever. there were 2 slightly dull spots where the 2 tumors ad been, but nothing else out of the ordinary. the nest week (yesterday)  i got the first dose of maintenance bcg. less side effects this time. all went well.

however, regarding bc, they are only doing a year of maintenance bcg. the new thinking is that they are starting to give bcg based on actual need instead of habit. my cancer has not reappeared so their thoughts are that i do not need a lot of “maintenance”. sounds ok to me, why be given drugs i dont really need?

    good luck to all

    Hi Rob,

The All Clear is great news.  And, no side affects from the BCG is even better. The purpose for being on BCG maintenance is to strengthen your bladder (therapy) because of its (BC) high recurrence rate. It seems your URO has his/her priorities right and you are in good hands.

All the best to you…God Bless!

    Hi Rob

I also had just 1 year of BCG maintenance in 2009. They worked for me, been all clear since 2007.

    Good luck with the treatments.

    All the best

    Jack
