I had my first BCG treatment on Wednesday. I have to say it was rather uneventful. The anxiety and anxious nous leading up to the procedure was worse than the treatment or side effects. The insertion of the catheter was uncomfortable but not painful, although I did flinch. I did not feel the removal at all. I did feel the BCG in my system almost like receiving contrast for a CT scan. I was worried about the 2 hour hold but that also was no problem and could have gone longer if needed. I felt a little bit out of it through out the day but for the most part was fine. One thing I noticed was when I started passing urine it was in smaller quantities. I assume from possibly the catheter inflaming / swelling up my urethra? I had no pain, blood, clots or other discomfort upon resuming urination. I consumed quite a bit of water and had some urgency towards the nighttime. I may have gotten up 3 times through the1st night to relieve myself. Went to bed late on Thursday night and slept through out the night. I seem back to normal now? I read post’s from other sites about BCG that really raised my anxiety level for a week leading up to the procedure. I had some very positive feedback from this forum that eased my mind a day before the initial treatment. I know this is the first one and have five more to go, so a lot can change. I hope this can be encouraging to anyone who is reading this and having their first initial treatment. Prayers for all on this forum and to everyone who is facing medical or other life altering events.

Also, in the recent past I have had 2 ureteroscopy’s one with stints to remove kidney stones, 2 EWSL’s to blast stones, 2 Cystoscopy’s and the TURBT. So I was really expecting the worse with the catheter.

Good news Refractoryman, hoping the next treatment goes just as well as the first.
    All the best,
    Jack
