    Hi,
I had my 3rd session of BCG, I had 6 after surgery(had 5.5×5.5×1.5cm tumor removed – stage pTa), then 2 sets of 3 every 3 months. It will be one year since surgery Dec 12th. Everything has gone well except for my last BCG treatment, I have been sick and have had to pee every half hour or so for over a week since the 12th treatment. I am not sure if this is from the number of treatments or if its an infection or something else. Just wondering if anyone has had similar experience with BCG. All my cystoscopy and CT scans have shown clear so far!
    Thanks,
    Neil

    Hi Neil,

Over a period of about 12-15 months I had 18 BCG installations (7 yrs ago)…all clear now for nearly 6 yrs. I had 3 TURBTs in total…2 recurrences, and each time the tumors were under 3cm. I did not experience what you’re going through other than a cold/flu like symptoms which lasted 24 to 48 hours after each treatment.

It may be an infection as you suspect but I would call your URO just to check it out. You didn’t mention if you had a follow-up cysto since your TURBT a year ago but I would expect that would have occurred.

Your bladder has gone through a lot and items such as coffee and citrus drinks will aggravate a sensitive bladder. I would stick to water for awhile but in the meantime I think connecting with your URO would be appropriate.

    Stay positive, stay strong…god bless.

    Rick

    Hi Nelson

I echo Rick’s comments. Simple test for a UTI with immediate results known, I always had my test done by my family doc as it was easier to get an appointment with him than my Uro.

    All the best,

    Jack
