Hi TnT, I am sorry to meet you here but please be assured that you are not alone! Before my mom’s chemo (cisplatin) and radiation therapy last December, I was scared to death too after reading all the information (I would cry when taking shower, a mild depression I suppose). Knowing all the info was in a way good because I was very well prepared (I told my mom about 50% of what I read and she felt more at ease than I did). But then please relax, those are all WORST cases, it is enough just to know about them. I was told by our doctors that most people have mild reactions. My mom was one of them. She received radiation 5 times a week and chemo once a week. She was prescribed anti-nausea pills for 2 days after each chemo session. She lost appetite (never happened before as far as I can remember) and was generally very tired and weak. She sometimes had headache and had to go to the bathroom more frequently. She needed a lot of encouragement to drink more water, eat healthily and stay active (as long as she’s not feeling too tired). And she has successfully fought the battle and is now cancer free.
I found communication very important during the process, some little hint might lead the doctors to adjust dosage or kind of drugs (they change my mom’s anti-nausea drug in the middle). Please stay strong and positive. Best wishes to you and your husband.
